Four Flames Earn Post Season HonorsPOINT LOOKOUT, MO. -- The Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference announced the 2011 All-MCAC Women's Volleyball Teams in conjunction with the MCAC Tournament over the weekend in Point Lookout, Mo.
College of Saint Mary landed four players on the All-Conference teams. Leading the way for CSM are first team members Ashley Iwanski (Omaha, Neb.) and Jessica Kuehner (Omaha, Neb.). Joy Leick (Omaha, Neb.) was named to the MCAC Second Team. Bailey Collins (North Platte, Neb.) garnered an honorable mention selection.
Iwanski, a senior, repeated as a first team all-conference selection this season. She led the Flames with 369 kills, 48 ace serves, and 342 digs.

YORK — After dropping the first set, College of the Ozarks found a way to shift the momentum to their side as they took sets two, three and four to knock off York College on Saturday at the Freeman Center.
The Panthers were solid offensively in the first set jumping out to a 11-8 lead on an ace serve by junior Erin Davidson. Another ace, this time by Kenzie Witt, had York up 18-13. The lead grew to as much as six (20-14) down the stretch before Ozarks cut the lead to two on two occasions. The Panthers put up three of the final five points and won the set on a Witt kill.
Concordia University picks up win over York CollegeConcordia University overcame a slow start to pick up a 3-1 volleyball win over York College on Tuesday evening in Seward. York College took set one, but the Bulldogs responded well. Scores of the match were 21-25, 25-14, 25-21 and 25-22. Concordia improved to 8-14 on the year. York College fell to 13-9.
The Bulldogs held a lead late in the first set. Concordia led 20-18, but York finished the set on a 7-1 scoring run to take the early advantage. The Bulldogs took an early 3-0 lead in set two. A rotation error cost the visiting Panthers a few points, and Concordia jumped out a 7-3 advantage. The Bulldogs led comfortably the rest of the way and evened the match at a set apiece.
Bellevue University sweeps York CollegeYORK, Neb. - Sophomores Caitlyn Rueth (Omaha, Neb.) and Sydney DeBoer (Seward, Neb.) posted career highs in kills and Andrea Johnson (Omaha, Neb.) had a career night defensively as the 15th-ranked Bellevue University volleyball team swept York College 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-23) Tuesday night in MCAC action at the Freeman Center.
The Bruins improved to 16-4 on the season and 5-0 in the MCAC and have now won 12-straight matches. Bellevue has not dropped a set in conference action. York fell to 11-8 overall and 3-1 in league play.
Rueth led the Bruins with 12 kills and four digs. DeBoer added 10 kills on .444 hitting while adding three blocks.
York College defeats College of Saint Mary in five sets OMAHA, Neb. – College of Saint Mary volleyball opened the Midland Collegiate Athletics Conference season Tuesday night against York College. The Panthers rallied from a 2-1 deficit at the Lied Fitness Center to win 3-2.
Jessica Kuehner (FR, Omaha, Neb.) led all players with 17 kills on 40 attacks. Ashley Iwanski (SR, Omaha, Neb.) added 16 kills. Setting duo Brittney Lester (FR, Tecumseh, Neb.) and Briana Sumner (FR, Fort Collins, Colo.) combined for 54 assists in the five set loss. CSM racked up nine service aces in the loss.
Laura Tesnohlidek led York with 15 kills. Rachelle Tialavea added 14 kills. Erin Davidson had a game high 47 assists for the Panthers. Davidson also had a game high 15 digs.
College of Saint Mary drops to 1-13 on the season and 0-1 in conference play. York evens its record at 7-7 and is 1-0 in the MCAC. The Flames return to action this weekend. On Friday, they travel to Seward, Nebraska, to take on Concordia University. Saturday afternoon, CSM returns home to host Grace University.

YORK - An 11-2 run set the tone in game one and the Union College Warriors were not about to spoil the York College Panthers 2011 home opener Wednesday night.
After winning the first set 25-9, the Warriors made it closer every game after that, but in actuality the Panthers never lost control of the match at any time, wining the last two games 25-16 and 25-16.
Concordia, York, CCC take part in spring volleyball tournamentConcordia University will host a spring volleyball tournament this Wednesday beginning at 5 p.m. at the Health, Human Performance and Athletic Center. There will be a 45 minute continuous clock for each match with 15-minute breaks between matches. Parents and spectators will be allowed on the upper concourse.

Member of first York College volleyball team earns $10,000 Excellence in Education awardClick to view story on Frenship Today.
Two Frenship teachers have won the Newton Excellence in Education Award from the Beaumont Foundation, which will award them $10,000.
Karen Conder, a physical education teacher at Crestview Elementary School, and Jim Crites, a science teacher at Frenship High School, will receive a crystal obelisk, a professional portrait and a check for $10,000 during the Beaumont Foundation’s Awards Gala on May 5.

YORK — Tonight’s volleyball triangular at York High School will be a Pink Out to raise money in the battle against breast cancer.
Proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research.
