Bellevue University beats York CollegeClick to view story on York News-Times
YORK — Bellevue University left town with two wins in a single night over the volleyball Panthers of York College.
The evening’s first match at 5 p.m. went to the Bruins in a sweep, 25-17, 28-18, 25-17. The nightcap began with York winning the opening set and playing Bellevue much closer overall. It ended with the same outcome, however, when Bellevue won 18-25, 25-23, 27-25, 25-17.
Vaudt powers Bulldogs past York College 3-1SEWARD - A balanced offensive attack led the Concordia University volleyball team to a 3-1 win over York College on Wednesday evening in Seward. Scores of the match were 25-19, 22-25, 25-20 and 25-17. The Bulldogs moved to 10-9 on the year with the win, while York College slipped to 8-11 with the loss.
Chelsea Vaudt pounded 15 kills and added five solo and six assisted blocks on the night for Concordia in the victory. Amanda Kisker also reached double figured in kills with 11 and added four assisted blocks. Sloan Brandon chipped in with seven kills and led the way defensively with 22 digs, while Alex Szalawiga put down seven kills and added 13 digs in the Concordia win.
“It feels good to get a win,” said Bulldog senior Alex Szalawiga. “We needed to get this one, and we hope this will kick start things for a good rest of the week in practice. We have talent on this team. We need to keep playing with confidence and try to become more consistent.”

YORK - The York College Panthers volleyball team took College of St. Mary’s to five sets on Wednesday night, but on Thursday night the undefeated College of Ozarks Bobcats had little trouble winning their tenth straight with a 25-17, 25-16 and 25-15 win over the hosts at the York College Freeman Center.
On Wednesday the Panthers lost the first set to the College of St. Mary’s Flames 25-16, but York bounced back to make it 1-1 with a 25-22 win.

YORK — The York College volleyball team is ready for a fresh start in 2010.
“The girls are very motivated to head in a new direction and strive toward a successful season,” YC head coach Meredith Rosenbaum said. “They have set great goals for themselves and will work very hard to achieve them. The roster is made up of a well-rounded, great group of girls that will encourage and challenge each other throughout the season.”

YORK — The York College volleyball team opened their home slate of games with one of the nation’s best in No. 11 Bellevue University.
The Panthers hung around early, but the Bruins took control midway through the first set sweeping the match 25-14, 25-16, 25-9.
Bellevue's Wardian named MCAC player of the yearPOINT LOOKOUT, Mo. -- Eight Bellevue University volleyball players earned conference honors highlighted by senior middle blocker Maureen Wardian (Omaha, Neb.) who was named the conference's Player of the Year announced on Saturday in conjunction with the MCAC Volleyball Tournament hosted by College of the Ozarks.
Wardian is a four-time first team all-MCAC selection and ranks second on the team with 320 kills and 96 blocks with a team-high .359 hitting percentage. An honorable mention NAIA and AVCA All-American in 2009 and 2010, she has been named the MCAC Hitter of the Week three times this season. For her career, Wardian ranks third in block assists (444), third in total blocks (547) and fourth in attack percentage (.314).
Along with Wardian, Annie Benson (Papillion, Neb.), Jordan Broady (Johnson, Neb.), Meghan Evans (Omaha, Neb.) and Kali Schnacker (Humboldt, Neb.) also earned first team honors.

Bellevue University picked to win MCAC title, College of St. Mary third, Peru State fourth, York College seventhPOINT LOOKOUT, Mo. - The 2010 MCAC Women's Volleyball Preseason Coaches' Poll was released Monday (Aug. 23) with Bellevue University favored to claim the conference championship.
Bellevue, the 2009 MCAC regular season champions, advanced to the NAIA National Tournament for the third-straight season, finishing with a 29-10 overall record and a 14-0 conference mark.
College of the Ozarks was picked second by the MCAC coaches after going 26-10 (12-2 MCAC) last season and claiming the MCAC Tournament title to advance to the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round. The Bobcats received votes in the 2010 national preseason poll.

YORK - York College has named Meredith Rosenbaum of Searcy, Arkansas, as the new head coach for Panther volleyball. Rosenbaum replaces Charla Stark who has transferred to a position as the college’s director of housing.
Rosenbaum, an Indiana native, currently serves as an assistant volleyball coach for Harding University where she distinguished herself as an All-Conference volleyball athlete. She will finish a master’s degree in Business Administration from Harding this spring term before making the move to York this summer. During her playing career, Rosenbaum was a four-time letter winner, captain for two seasons, named All-Conference twice, and was honored twice as an Academic All-Conference student. She was part of a program that won the Gulf South Conference four years in a row.
Bruins dominate all-MCAC volleyball teamBELLEVUE, Neb. -- Seven Bruins earned post-season honors as the 2009 all-Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball team was announced today in conjunction with the MCAC Volleyball Tournament being held on the Bellevue University campus.
The Bruins claimed four first-team selections, two second-team honors, and one honorable mention nod. In addition, Senior Rachel Muller was named the MCAC Player of the Year and Jordan Broady earned Freshman of the Year honors.
