Wayne State finishes 4-0 AT ROCKHURST CLASSIC WITH IMPRESSIVE SWEEPS OF HOST ROCKHURST, TIFFIN (OHIO)WAYNE, Neb.- The 17th-ranked Wayne State College volleyball team finished 4-0 at the Rockhurst Volleyball Classic in Kansas City, Missouri Saturday afternoon with an impressive sweep of the host Hawks 25-15, 25-16 and 25-13.
Wayne State drops two spots despite going 4-0 at Rockhurst TournamentWAYNE, Neb.- Despite going 4-0 at the Rockhurst Volleyball Classic over the weekend, winning all four matches in 3-0 sweeps, the Wayne State College volleyball team fell two spots to 19th in the first regular season American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll released Monday afternoon. The Wildcats received a total of 228 points in voting by Division II coaches from across the country.
Wayne State will play in the Division II Premier Challenge this weekend in Denver , Colorado. The Wildcats face #6 Saint Leo of Florida Friday at 12:00 p.m. and Regis of Colorado at 3:30 p.m. with two more matches against opponents to be determined on Saturday.

It’s no secret that Central Nebraska has been a hotbed for producing volleyball players.
And Wayne State volleyball coach Scott Kneifl knows that.
Wayne State College picked fourth in preseason NSIC Coaches PollST. PAUL, Minn. - The 2010 NSIC Volleyball Preseason Coaches Poll has been released and Wayne State College has been picked to finish 11th in the 14-team league.
For the seventh consecutive season the Concordia University, St. Paul Golden Bears have been picked by the league coaches in the NSIC Preseason Volleyball Poll.
After winning the past three NCAA National Championships, the Golden Bears received 11 of a possible 13 first place votes (coaches cannot vote for their own team).

The Wayne State College volleyball saw their 2009 season come to an end Friday evening at the NCAA Central Regional Semi Finals in St. Paul, Minnesota as two-time defending national champion Concordia-St. Paul swept the Wildcats 25-17, 25-13 and 25-10.
The Golden Bears, who have won 70 consecutive matches, improve to 33-0 on the season while WSC ends the year at 29-8. Concordia-St. Paul now advances to the NCAA Central Regional Final on Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m. against Metro State of Colorado, who swept Minnesota Duluth (25-23,25-21,25-18) in the opening semi-final Friday evening.

KEARNEY -- Wayne State College coach Scott Kneifl doesn't downplay the importance of developing a recruiting pipeline into Central Nebraska.
"We've gone from being a borderline top-25 team to a legitimate top-25 team by recruiting Central Nebraska," Kneifl said. "Central Nebraska is a hotbed for volleyball -- the coaches are fabulous, the kids play hard and they play a lot."
Wayne State signs four Nebraska girls in early signing periodWAYNE - Wayne State College head volleyball coach Scott Kneifl announced today that four Nebraska high school standouts have signed national letters of intent or scholarship offers during the NCAA early signing period to attend Wayne State College and play for the Wildcats in the 2010 season. They are Cori Hobbs of Battle Creek, Jordan Lechner of Syracuse, McKenna Reagan of Elkhorn and Tatum Wroblewski of St. Paul.
“We are very pleased with this year’s recruiting class,” remarked Coach Kneifl. “We feel like we have recruited four very talented student-athletes to our program that will not only help us on the volleyball floor but will also fit into our philosophy of being great teammates. All four of these players will be able to compete for positions next fall and we are very excited they chose Wayne State College over other Division I and Division II programs.”
Hobbs is a 6-0 outside hitter who was a four-year starter at Battle Creek High School. She helped the Bravettes to a 25-4 record this season and a #10 ranking in Class C-1 Omaha World Herald rankings. As a junior last season, Hobbs helped the Bravettes reach the Class C-1 State Tournament with a 28-4 record, earning Class C-1 All-State honors and Third Team Super State recognition from the Lincoln Journal Star while being named captain of the Class C Norfolk Daily News Elite Eight squad. She also set a new Class C-1 state record last season with 614 kills for the Bravettes.
Attendance at Nebraska volleyball games ranks near topINDIANAPOLIS — Nebraska ranked No. 2 in NCAA Division I home volleyball attendance last fall behind Hawaii, which averaged 6,423 for 20 matches.
The Huskers, who played 15 of their home contests at the 4,030-seat NU Coliseum, averaged 5,197 for 18 home matches. NU drew 13,870 to the Devaney Center on Sept. 13 for a loss to UCLA.
The Huskers also were credited with home matches for two NCAA regional tournament contests at Qwest Center Omaha. NU drew 8,935 for a Dec. 11 win over Iowa State and 9,253 for a Dec. 12 loss to Texas. Those Qwest Center Omaha contests were part of the Husker season-ticket package and set up by the Nebraska athletic department.
Nebraska Volleyball team to visit Wayne State for clinic, autograph sessionWAYNE – The Nebraska volleyball team travels to Wayne, Neb., on Saturday, April 3 for a clinic at Wayne State College. The event is in conjunction with Wayne State and will feature a behind-the-scenes look at Nebraska volleyball as well an autograph session with the Huskers and Wayne State.
Tickets cost $10 per person (students and adults) with all seats reserved. Rice Auditorium doors will open for the event at noon. To sign up and/or purchase tickets, fans are encouraged to visit wscvolleyballcamps.com or call 402-375-7303 for more information.
The day starts with the Wayne State volleyball team delivering on-court instruction for players in grades K-6 in the WSC Rec Center from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The Huskers will make their first appearance of the day when they hit the Rice Auditorium court for a behind the scenes look at Nebraska volleyball starting at 1:00 p.m. During the clinic, the Husker coaching staff will deliver comments and instruction for the fans. The clinic is an opportunity for both young players and adults to learn more about volleyball from the Husker and Wildcat coaching staff and players. Following the clinic, an autograph session will take place in Rice Auditorium with Nebraska and Wayne State volleyball players that is open for all fans in attendance.
