Megan Schmale had 22 kills, six ace serves and four solo blocks as Elmwood-Murdock earned a 25-10, 23-25, 26-24, 25-16 win against Tri County in the C1-2 district final near Firth on Friday.
The Knights (28-7) also got 21 kills, five ace serves and four blocks from freshman Hanna Justesen. Erin Dwyer had 33 set assists.
Tri County knocks out Humboldt-Table Rock-SteinauerJOHNSON - Third-seeded Tri County overcame a 2-0 deficit to win in five sets against second-seeded Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer at the Class C2-1 Subdistrict at Johnson-Brock on Monday night.

Tri County goes 1-1 at SNC TournamentThe Tri County volleyball team went 1-1 on the opening evening of the Southern Nebraska Conference after defeating David City 25-18, 25-22 and losing to host Fillmore Central 25-11, 25-9.
"To describe our play tonight, I would say it was sluggish," Tri County head coach Brett Scheiding said. "We had a few great nights of practice last week, but the two weekend days away from the game negated some of that gain going into a tough conference tournamet. In the first set of David City we jumped out to a 16-4 lead behind some outstanding serving by Tara Weishahn that led us to score nine straight points.

Tri County defeats David City in four setsTRI COUNTY - Tri County evened its record at 1-1 with a 25-21, 25-22, 23-25, 25-17 victory over David City (0-4) on Tuesday.
"I have to be pleased with the end result, but I don't think myself or any of the players really felt good about how it came about," Tri County head coach Brett Scheiding said. "We wanted to focus on being more consistent and that goal was not accomplished tonight. We played much slower with our feet than we did the first night out and it hurt us way too often."

Thayer Central earned the top seed for the Southern Nebraska Conference Tournament, which gets underway on Oct. 25.
The Titans will face the winner of the Tri County (No. 8) and Cross County (No. 9) match at 7 p.m. on Oct. 25 in Hebron.
