COZAD - The Sutherland Lady Sailors will be making their ninth trip, and second in two years, to the Nebraska State Volleyball Tournament after downing Twin Loup in four sets, 23-16, 25-13, 19-25 and 25-11 in the Class D1-6 Final at Cozad on Thursday.
Sutherland will open state tournament play on Thursday at Grand Island Northwest. The four D1 matches will be contested at 12:30, 2:30, 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.

HERSHEY - Going into the SPVA Volleyball Tournament, most coaches felt the teams would be close and games hotly contested.
Saturday during the semifinals and finals, the girls from Hershey, Chase County, Sutherland and St. Pat's didn't disappoint those who attended.

HERSHEY - St. Pat's and Sutherland moved on Thursday during action in the SPVA Volleyball Tournament at Hershey.
The Lady Irish knocked off Perkins County in the opening match of the tournament 25-16, 25-23, 13-25 and 25-18 and will continue on to play No. 1 seed Chase County in the 11 a.m. match on Saturday.

Sure bump, set, spike is supposed to be easy, but then last year I was reading about Nebraska and John Cook running an offense with two setters and now he's gone back to a single setter, but using an outside hitter when the setter is on the front row, meaning the setter then is someone else.

PAXTON - The Paxton Lady Tigers downed Sutherland 25-14, 30-28, 25-20 Thursday in Paxton.
Bailee Schow had six kills for the Lady Tigers and Bekkan Martinosky scored eight points with five kills.
