Elkhorn students seeking teams for Nets for Nets 3-on-3 volleyball tournament May 15OMAHA – Two Elkhorn Ridge Middle School students are using their love of volleyball as a way to try and raise money for a cause dear to their hearts.
Abi Heller, who plays for the River City Juniors Volleyball Club, and Ashley Knight, who plays for Nebraska Elite Volleyball Club, have planned a Nets for Nets Volleyball Tournament and Clinic on May 15 at The Courts in Omaha with the proceeds from this tournament going towards providing bed nets for residents in Sudan to protect them from disease carrying insect, bugs and poisonous scorpions while they sleep.
“We both feel so blessed to have all the things we do and what better a way to combine the thing we love most to a cause we feel is very important - the Nets for Nets Volleyball Tournament and clinic,” said Heller and Knight in an e-mail they sent out promoting the tournament and clinic. “We want this event to be a community wide effort, so we are really reaching out to players and families all over the Omaha area to come and play.

Many Nebraska teams will be in competition at the second big national qualifying tournament this weekend in Kansas City.
Three bids to the USAV Nationals are up for grabs in the open divisions, while two will be awarded in the club division and one in the 12 club tournament.

Nebraska Elite 16 Top Gun in the 16 Open Division and River City Jrs 141 in the American Division both qualified for the USAV Girls National Championships at the Colorado Crossroads Qualifier Tournament.
Members of the River City Jrs 141 are Asia Kloewer, Lauren Salerno, Evelyn Benda, Molly Schiermeyer, Kelly Worthington, Madi Norblade, Sage Meyer, Kenzie Swanson, Santana Gallegos, Gessica Gdowski and Elie Kloewer. Rick Hughes is the head coach.
Nebraska Elite 16 Top Gun includes Sara Vitito, Michelle Thommi, Olivia Schonewise, Jessica Diederich, Allexa Elman, Amanda Foje, Jessica Bird, Sami Hansen, Megan Ruzicka and Meagan Kerns. Korrine Schuster is the head coach and Tony Carrow is her assistant coach.

RENO, Nev. (July 3, 2010) – The 16 Open, National and American Division club members closed-out the 31st USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships, Saturday, in Reno, Nev.
The 16 Open Division was the first to close the day as fourth-seeded Nebraska Juniors 16-1 (Great Plains) faced third-seeded Skyline 16 Roshambo (North Texas) in the championship match.

FREMONT - Jessy Schroedter's hard work in volleyball is paying off in multiple ways.
Schroedter, a senior-to-be at Fremont Bergan, is competing this week in the USA Junior Olympics national tournament in Reno, Nev. Her River City Juniors 171 team qualified by winning a regional tournament in the spring at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

RENO, NEV. - Opening day of the USAV Nationals is June 24 and it sees the 14-year-olds taking to the court.
Representing Nebraska are seven teams – three in the OPEN Division and two each in the American and National Divisions.
Open Division
Nebraska teams continue to gain more bids to Junior Olympic NationalsAt the Show Me Qualifier, the River City Juniors 181 won the 18 Club Division to earn a National bid and the Nebraska Elite LOD earned a 17 Open bid to the USA Volleyball Girls' Junior National Championships June 24-July 3 in Reno, Nevada.

The Premier 14 Gold team placed fourth in Gold Tournament, 14 Open Division to earn a qualifying bid to the National Tournament in Reno, Nevada.
Members of the Premier 14 Gold team include: Sydney O'Shaughnessy, Hannah Lingo, Hannah Japp,
Isabella Siciunas, Anna Reed, Taylor Holz, Natalie Mickelson, Lynnae Beierman, Kenzie Schumacher,
Libby Moberg and coaches Ashley Martin, Tadd Martin and Kirsten Placzek.
The River City Juniors 141 finished first in the 14 Club Division at the Northern Lights Qualifier on Sunday April 18.
