Heartland Lutheran wins five-setter over Red Cloud

GRAND ISLAND - Heartland Lutheran got its first win of the season the hard way.

The Red Hornets dropped the first two sets to Red Cloud Thursday at Heartland Lutheran High School, but then came back strong for a 22-25, 17-25, 25-20, 25-18, 18-16 victory over the Warriors.

Shelton starts season 3-0

SHELTON — Shelton opened the season 3-0 at its own quadrangular Thursday night in area high school volleyball action.

The Bulldogs opened with a 25-7, 25-13 win over Harvard. Kalli Brannagan had seven aces for Shelton, while Lexie Brandt added 10 set assists.

Shelton improves to 13-1 with two more victories

RED CLOUD — Shelton improved to 13-1 on the season with a 25-12, 25-19 win over Red Cloud, and a 20-25, 25-17, 25-16 victory over Blue Hill to capture the Red Cloud Triangular.

Kalli Brannagan led the Bulldogs attack against Red Cloud with six kills. Taylor Glenn had four ace serves and Kelsey Rowse had 17 assists for Shelton.

Brannagan had 14 kills against Blue Hill. Kalyn Brannagan (eight), Tracy Meyer (five) and Kelsey Rowse (four) combined for an additional 17 kills in the match. Lexie Brandt dished out 20 assists for the Bulldogs.
