Leyton stays hot, sweeps Banner County and Potter-Dix

DALTON - Fresh off winning its sixth consecutive Minuteman Activities Conference Tournament championship on Saturday, the Leyton volleyball team continued gaining steam as the regular season winds down by collecting a pair of wins over Banner County and Potter-Dix in a triangular held Tuesday night in Dalton.

Leyton, ranked No. 9 in Class D-2 (Omaha World-Herald), had little trouble in either match. The Warriors opened with a 25-10, 25-20 sweep over Banner County before sweeping Potter-Dix 25-21, 25-12 in a rematch of Saturday's MAC title match.

KIMBALL – The Potter-Dix Lady Coyotes volleyball team split two matches of a triangular Thursday night, defeating Kimball 25-19, 23-25, 25-19 and falling to Mitchell 25-15, 25-10.

Lady Coyotes coach Kristi Jung was disappointed with the effort against Mitchell but found encouragement in their nightcap victory over the Lady Longhorns.

Potter-Dix sweeps South Platte

BIG SPRINGS — The Potter-Dix volleyball team earned its third win of the season by topping South Platte by scores of 22-25, 25-17, 25-26, 25-22 Thursday night.

Brandy Newbanks and Kayla Johnson recorded double-doubles for the Coyotes. Newbanks finished with 16 kills and 12 digs, while Johnson tallied 10 points and 16 digs. Maranda Heitman had 20 digs defensively and Dani Jones dished out 41 assists. Johnson added three aces.
