SCOTTSBLUFF — Players have been selected for the East and West teams for the 28th-annual West Nebraska All-Star Volleyball Game. The 26 members of the volleyball teams were nominated by their respective high school coach and selected by the all-star coaches.

SUTHERLAND - It was what everyone thought it would be.

The Class C2-6 District Finals on Friday at Sutherland featured two South Platte Valley Association teams - St. Pat's and Perkins County - who were 1-1 against one another in the regular season. This time a state tournament berth was on the line and both teams played like it.

HERSHEY - St. Pat's and Sutherland moved on Thursday during action in the SPVA Volleyball Tournament at Hershey.

The Lady Irish knocked off Perkins County in the opening match of the tournament 25-16, 25-23, 13-25 and 25-18 and will continue on to play No. 1 seed Chase County in the 11 a.m. match on Saturday.

Let's start things this week with an announcement, shall we? I can get easily confused when volleyball coaches start talking.

Sure bump, set, spike is supposed to be easy, but then last year I was reading about Nebraska and John Cook running an offense with two setters and now he's gone back to a single setter, but using an outside hitter when the setter is on the front row, meaning the setter then is someone else.
