COLUMBUS — They took very different paths to get there, but the Bulldogs and Bluejays ended up at the same destination ... the final.
The Humphrey and Newman Grove volleyball teams won their respective matches Monday in the Class D1-5 Subdistrict Tournament at the Lakeview High School gym to advance to tonight’s championship match with a spot at districts on the line. Humphrey was cool and collected in a 25-13, 25-23, 25-19 sweep of Osceola, while Newman Grove used a ferocious rally to dispose of Humphrey St. Francis 22-25, 14-25, 25-22, 25-18, 15-13. Osceola defeated East Butler 25-15, 25-14, 25-8 in the evening’s first match.

YORK - Osceola Bulldogs head coach Joan Caraway was hoping to return the favor to the Bruning-Davenport-Shickley Eagles Monday night for a loss earlier this season.
The two teams battled in the second game of the day on Monday in Crossroads Conference action at the York City Auditorium.

YORK — Hampton, Osceola and High Plains were all winners in the first-round of the Crossroads Conference Tourney Saturday in York.
Class D-2, No. 8 Hampton defeated McCool Junction 25-13, 25-22, 25-12. Kaylnn Dahlke led the Hawks with 19 kills and seven ace serves. Taylor VanHousen chipped in six kills.

OSCEOLA — The Osceola volleyball team continued its recent wave of success Tuesday, defeating Dorchester 25-12, 25-18, 25-14.
Senior Alex Micek led the team with 18 kills, one block and six ace serves. Katie Wilgocki added six kills, along with five digs and nine set assists. Hannah Walgren had 14 set assists, while Lauryn Gustafson had five digs.
