Nebraska players, coach help lead Morningside to NAIA National TournamentClick to view story on Sioux City Journal.
SIOUX CITY -- A season filled with unknowns has certainly yielded quite a few pleasant surprises.
As the Morningside College volleyball team heads into more of the same in the NAIA women's volleyball championships, first-year Coach Sara Horn can only hope a little ignorance keeps adding up to bliss.
"I really didn't know what to expect,'' said Horn, reflecting on her expectations as she prepared for her first season with the Mustangs. "People asked me how I thought we would be and I just didn't know.''
When Great Plains Athletic Conference coaches picked her team to finish eighth in an 11-team race, she was scarcely delighted.

Kearney Catholic rebounds from first loss to top Ord, D-TClick to view story on Grand Island Independent.
DONIPHAN — It’s what you do when you get knocked down — you pick yourself up and start climbing that mountain again.
Kearney Catholic, admittedly smarting a bit from Tuesday night’s loss to Grand Island Central Catholic, went back to work Thursday as it faced Doniphan-Trumbull and Ord in a triangular meet. And it was the Stars who walked away with a pair of hard-won victories, as they defeated Ord 25-7, 25-20, then came back to hold off the Cardinals 25-12, 25-18. Ord took the opener as it defeated D-T 25-19, 22-25, 25-19.
