Prior to this season, an Omaha Public Schools team had never won a match at the state volleyball tournament.

Omaha Burke outside hitter Nicole Walker helped change that, leading the Class A runner-up Bulldogs to a 32-7 record and two tourney wins. That performance capped her senior year at Burke and landed her a spot on this year's All-Metro Conference squad.

RAPID CITY --- The South Dakota School of Mines women's volleyball team just finished the 2011 women's volleyball season where the Lady Hardrockers finished with a 27-5 overall record, established a 15-match win streak, posted an undefeated mark over NCAA Div. II opponents and made a clean four-match sweep over Black Hills State.

But that doesn't mean the Lady Hardrockers are resting on their laurels. The Hardrocker coaching staff have already signed five quality recruits to add to next season's roster to help replace those lost to graduation and to boost a lineup that will be in its third year of transition to NCAA Div. II.

The Lady Hardrockers will welcome Jocelyn Mormann (Omaha, Neb.), Hanna Benedix (Omaha, Neb.), Rachel Schimpf (Oregon City, Or.), Cheyanne Herbert (Fleming, Colo.) and Jena Kreuzer (Westminster, Colo.).
