Lincoln Northeast 3, Fremont 0: Toni Tupper had a match-high 14 kills for Northeast. Natalie Bohac added 13 kills for the Rockets.

Lincoln Pius X 3, Omaha Mercy 0: Cassie Effken and Scarlett Howerter each had 10 kills and Allison Zastrow had 27 assists for Pius X.

Cougars claw their way back to state tourney

After a slow start against Omaha Mercy in the District B-3 volleyball final Thursday night at Bellevue West, Omaha Gross showed it’s ready to defend its Class B state title.

The Cougars recovered to dominate Mercy 25-19, 25-17, 25-8.

Emporia State's Boner finishing out career on basketball court

Emporia State senior Brianne Boner thought her playing days at ESU were done when the volleyball team lost in the semifinals of the South Central Regional Tournament.

However, Boner’s playing days will continue as she has joined the women’s basketball team after two season-ending knee injuries to seniors Brittney Miller and Negesti Taylor.
