Prior to this season, an Omaha Public Schools team had never won a match at the state volleyball tournament.

Omaha Burke outside hitter Nicole Walker helped change that, leading the Class A runner-up Bulldogs to a 32-7 record and two tourney wins. That performance capped her senior year at Burke and landed her a spot on this year's All-Metro Conference squad.

The annual Bellevue Invitational Volleyball Tournament will be held Sept. 2 and 3 at Bellevue West High School. Pool Play will take place on Friday, Sept. 2nd, beginning at 4:00. All pool play will be at Bellevue West High School. The top eight teams will play in the championship bracket in the South gym at Bellevue West beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3rd and the bottom eight teams will play in a consolation bracket tournament in the North gym at Bellevue West, beginning at 9:00 a.m.

OMAHA - The 2011 USA Beach Volleyball Junior Tour took place June 4-5 in Omaha, NE. Winners were crowned in 4 divisions. U18 division winners Kayla Haneline of Nebraska City’s Lourdes Central Catholic (University of Northern Iowa verbal commitment) and Brittany Prescott of Omaha Central (Graceland University) took the time to answer a few questions about playing sand volleyball.

Cori Ehmen recently sigend a letter of intent to play for Iowa Western in the upcoming season.

Cori is a 5'7" setter with a stellar career as a prep athlete. She is a three time All Conference selection, a three time all area selection and a two time All State selection. Additionally, Cori plays club ball for River City Juniors and will be traveling with her team to Atlanta this summer to take part in the Junior National Tournament.

"I didn't ge to see Cori play till late in the club season this year. She has a strong passion and committment to the game, and the commute that she makes to take part with her club team is evidence of this. She has a wealth of volleyball experience and great charisma. I am glad she has chosen to be a part of our program this fall, " said head coach Darrin McBroom.
