Players selected for West All-Star Game at Scottsbluff on June 2

SCOTTSBLUFF — Players have been selected for the East and West teams for the 28th-annual West Nebraska All-Star Volleyball Game. The 26 members of the volleyball teams were nominated by their respective high school coach and selected by the all-star coaches.

Ogallala's Morgan to be inducted into Nebraska High School Hall of Fame

The Nebraska High School Hall of Fame Foundation will induct twin sisters for the first time.
Hayes Center’s Deb and Donna Spickelmier highlight the 19th Hall of Fame induction group.
The induction ceremony will be Oct. 7 at the Lied Center in Lincoln. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for students and are available by contacting Tami McLaughlin, at Nebraska Sports Council, P.O. Box 29366, Lincoln, NE 68529, or by calling 402-471-2544 or by e-mail to tami@nebraskasportscouncil.com
Athletes slated for induction include:
The induction class includes 12 athletes, five coaches, an official and two contributors.
The Hall selected Heisman Trophy winner Eric Crouch and his Millard North classmate, Kelly Lindsay, in their first year of eligibility.
Coaches

Coaches include:
• Steve Morgan, Ogallala: His 38-year volleyball coaching career at Ogallala has included three state titles, four runner-up finishes in 25 state tournament appearances. He has a 788-156 record that includes a 177-13 Southwest Conference record.

KEARNEY - A stunning upset the first round of the subdistrict volleyball tournament didn't change any plans at Minden.

"Our goals were to win the conference and to play on the last day of the season. We got the one done," Minden coach Ed Rowse said.

Ogallala, Hershey to meet in C1-11 final

NORTH PLATTE - Hershey survived and Ogallala dominated Monday in the first round of the C1-11 subdistrict held at North Platte High School.

Down two sets to love, the Lady Panthers came back from almost certain elimination to down Chase County 20-25, 26-28, 25-19, 26-24 and 15-6. Ogallala struggled in the first set, but defeated a much improved Gothenburg squad in three sets 25-23, 25-19 and 25-9. Hershey and Ogallala will meet in North Platte for the subdistrict championship tonight at 7 p.m.

Papillion-LaVista South was pushed to the brink of its first loss against St. James Academy in Lenexa, Kan. but survived. Columbus Scotus in C1 also was pushed but remained unbeaten. Lutheran High Northeast in C2 wasn't so lucky as Guardina Angels took down C2's last unbeaten.
