ST. PAUL — Jumping out to a 7-1 lead, Kearney Catholic took control of C1-5 district final Friday in St. Paul and never looked back, defeating O’Neill 25-18, 25-19, 25-16, to earn a return to the state volleyball tournament.
“That’s something we’ve been working on all week in practice. We’ve been plagued by slow starts so it was nice to be able to jump on top early,” Kearney Catholic coach Kris Conner said. “Some of these girls have huge swings … and that gives them a chance to swing a little harder than when we’re down.”
