Things were a little "off" all the way through.

The stands were filled with pink, introductions were extended due to Parent's Night and, despite a four-set win, the Lady Knights were, as head coach Sally Thalken said, "out of sync."

NORTH PLATTE - The North Platte Community College volleyball team had another good showing on Saturday in the second day of the Subway Invite as the Lady Knights defeated Colby Community College and Southeast Community College before losing to powerhouse Northeastern Junior College.

"I thought our kids played hard," said NPCC coach Sally Thalken. "We had three tough games today. Colby gave us their best shot and Southeast played us tough. I thought we played hard against NJC but we didn't serve-receive or pass very well but in August those are things you try to get better at."

WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. - The North Platte Community College women's volleyball team knew they had a tough first-round contest against the No. 4-ranked team at the National Junior College Athletic Association national tournament.

That didn't scare them though. North Platte held strong through the three-set sweep on Thursday. Kishwaukee beat the Lady Knights 25-23, 25-19, 25-16 in the double elimination tournament.

WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. - The North Platte Lady Knights began their comeback road Friday, as they began play in the consolation bracket of the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II National Volleyball Championships.

After losing to Kishwaukee Community College in the first round of the tournament, the Lady Knights were looking to match their ninth place finish of 2009 by capturing three consecutive matches.

NORTH PLATTE - Inconsistency was the word of the day for the North Platte Community College volleyball team in its first day of action in the 2010 season on Friday.

But fortunately for the Lady Knights there were more highs than lows in its first three matches of the year at the Subway Invite as NPCC defeated Cloud County Community College, Williston State College and McCook Community College at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium to start the season.

Concordia University Elise Ortmeier of Wisner-Pilger is one of the latest recruits to sign with Concordia University.

SEWARD - Concordia University head volleyball coach Rachel Miller has announced the signing of five more players to the 2010 Bulldog recruiting class.

Elise Ortmeier will join the Bulldog volleyball program after a solid career at Wisner-Pilger High School. Ortmeier lettered for all four years as a libero for the Gators. During her junior year, she was Honorable Mention All-Conference in the East Husker Conference and was awarded with the Team Defense Award.

The No. 13 Lady Knights upset No. 10 Glendale Community College in a five-set thriller to claim ninth place at the National Junior College Athletic Association national tournament on Saturday afternoon.

A year ago, Kishwaukee Community College downed NPCC in first round action, forcing the Lady Knights to the consolation round on their way to a ninth place finish.

WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. - After a disappointing loss in the opening round of the National Junior College Athletic Association national volleyball tournament, the North Platte Community College women's volleyball team rebounded with two wins on Friday.

North Platte beat Iowa Lakes 25-23, 25-23, 15-25, 25-17 and then turned back Hagerstown CC 20-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-23. Hagerstown, a Maryland school, was the No. 9 seed in the tournament and No. 10 in the national poll.
