UNK announces roster changes
by Lopers.com

KEARNEY – Nebraska-Kearney head volleyball coach Rick Squiers announced the addition of three high school seniors and one junior college transfer to the Lopers roster.

Joining UNK will be Kaleigh Anderson (Lincoln Southwest), Sarah Balboa (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Abby Schueth (Ewing) and Setera Michaels (North Platte C.C.).

Anderson and Balboa are defensive specialists, Michaels is a setter and Schueth is an outside hitter.

Previous additions to the UNK roster include setter Jenna Rouzee (Grand Island Northwest) and defensive specialist Alex Miller (Grand Island/U. of Missouri-Kansas City).

“Despite returning all of our starters, this was an important recruiting class for the future of Loper volleyball. We addressed many immediate and future needs and I’m very excited about the group we will have in the fall,” said Squiers.

Squiers also announced that senior defensive specialist/setter Michaela Kneip (Millard South) and sophomore setter Jordan Squiers (Kearney Catholic) will not return to the team.

Kneip will spend the fall studying abroad, and thus forgo her final season, while Squiers is transferring to RMAC-member Fort Lewis.

“After a taste of playing time for UNK this past season, Jordan has opted to pursue a more likely opportunity to become a starting setter,” Squiers said of his daughter. “I will be rooting for her in every match this season except for one.” UNK plays at Fort Lewis on October 17th.

The daughter of Nebraska baseball coach Mike Anderson, Kaleigh (5-7) lettered in basketball, volleyball and track for the Skyhawks.
