WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. - The North Platte Community College women's volleyball team knew they had a tough first-round contest against the No. 4-ranked team at the National Junior College Athletic Association national tournament.
That didn't scare them though. North Platte held strong through the three-set sweep on Thursday. Kishwaukee beat the Lady Knights 25-23, 25-19, 25-16 in the double elimination tournament.

SEWARD - Concordia University head volleyball coach Rachel Miller has announced the signing of five more players to the 2010 Bulldog recruiting class.
Elise Ortmeier will join the Bulldog volleyball program after a solid career at Wisner-Pilger High School. Ortmeier lettered for all four years as a libero for the Gators. During her junior year, she was Honorable Mention All-Conference in the East Husker Conference and was awarded with the Team Defense Award.

WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. - After a disappointing loss in the opening round of the National Junior College Athletic Association national volleyball tournament, the North Platte Community College women's volleyball team rebounded with two wins on Friday.
North Platte beat Iowa Lakes 25-23, 25-23, 15-25, 25-17 and then turned back Hagerstown CC 20-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-23. Hagerstown, a Maryland school, was the No. 9 seed in the tournament and No. 10 in the national poll.

Shelby Waite, daughter of Rollie and Kate Waite of Dalton, recently signed a letter of intent with the North Platte Community College Lady Knights volleyball team.
Waite played the middle position at Leyton High School, but NPCC Coach Sally Thalken said she plans to see where the 5-foot-8 Waite fits best on the Lady Knights team before assigning her a position.

CHADRON – Three volleyball players will be continuing their careers at Chadron State College after signing National Letters of Intent, head coach Amy Spruiell announced Tuesday.
Jessica Jester and Kyla Duncan will be incoming freshmen, while Kaitlin Luikens joins the CSC program after playing two years at North Platte Community College.

NORTH PLATTE - The North Platte Community College Lady Knights volleyball team is headed to Wisconsin Dells, Wis., this week to compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II National Volleyball Championships.
The Lady Knights are 27-14 for the season and are seeded 13th for the competition, which begins today.

After seeing her team go 4-0 in its home invite Saturday and sweeping McCook Community College Wednesday, the Raiders were a different team in falling to North Platte Community College 18-25, 25-15, 25-22, 25-16 Thursday.
“It wasn’t the same team that I saw from the weekend,” Young said. “I’m not sure we gave our best effort as it was a big match.”
UNK announces roster changesKEARNEY – Nebraska-Kearney head volleyball coach Rick Squiers announced the addition of three high school seniors and one junior college transfer to the Lopers roster.
Joining UNK will be Kaleigh Anderson (Lincoln Southwest), Sarah Balboa (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Abby Schueth (Ewing) and Setera Michaels (North Platte C.C.).
Anderson and Balboa are defensive specialists, Michaels is a setter and Schueth is an outside hitter.
Previous additions to the UNK roster include setter Jenna Rouzee (Grand Island Northwest) and defensive specialist Alex Miller (Grand Island/U. of Missouri-Kansas City).
“Despite returning all of our starters, this was an important recruiting class for the future of Loper volleyball. We addressed many immediate and future needs and I’m very excited about the group we will have in the fall,” said Squiers.
Squiers also announced that senior defensive specialist/setter Michaela Kneip (Millard South) and sophomore setter Jordan Squiers (Kearney Catholic) will not return to the team.
Kneip will spend the fall studying abroad, and thus forgo her final season, while Squiers is transferring to RMAC-member Fort Lewis.
“After a taste of playing time for UNK this past season, Jordan has opted to pursue a more likely opportunity to become a starting setter,” Squiers said of his daughter. “I will be rooting for her in every match this season except for one.” UNK plays at Fort Lewis on October 17th.
The daughter of Nebraska baseball coach Mike Anderson, Kaleigh (5-7) lettered in basketball, volleyball and track for the Skyhawks.
