Prairie Wolves Volleyball Players Headline All-AD3I TeamClick to view story on Nebraska Wesleyan website
Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball players received several honors when the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) All-Independent volleyball team was announced Dec. 8. Four NWU players were named to the All-AD3I teams with Laura Brammeier and Caitlin Anderson named to AD3I First-Team, and Kelsey Elman and Erika Goldsmith selected to the Second-Team. Brammeier was the AD3I Co-Player-of-the-Year and Anderson was the Rookie-of-the-Year. In addition, head coach Gina Chambers was named the co-Coach-of-the-Year.
Brammeier, a senior outside hitter from Lincoln, was named an AVCA honorable mention All-American and was also First-Team All-Central Region. This is the second straight season that Brammeier was selected to the All-AD3I First-Team. The Lincoln Southwest H.S., graduate finished her career with 1,235 kills to rank fifth all-time at NWU.

LINCOLN - Four members of the Nebraska Wesleyan University volleyball team were named to the 2010 Great Plains Athletic Conference Volleyball All-Conference team that was announced Wednesday (Nov. 17).
Seniors Laura Brammeier and Kelsey Elman were both All-GPAC First Team honorees. Freshman setter Caitlin Anderson was named to the All-GPAC Second Team while senior Erika Goldsmith was an honorable mention All-GPAC selection.

The memorable 2010 volleyball season came to an end for Nebraska Wesleyan on Friday night (Nov. 12) as Wisconsin Eau-Claire defeated the Prairie Wolves, 3-0, in the first round of the NCAA III Tournament in St. Paul, Minn. NWU finishes the 2010 season with a 23-6 overall record.
Despite the loss in the first round, the 2010 Prairie Wolves volleyball team will go down in the books as one of the best in school history. NWU recorded 23 total wins, the most since 1998, and the Prairie Wolves qualified for their seventh straight postseason tournament.

The Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball team will play in the NCAA Division III regional this weekend at St. Thomas (Minn.) in St. Paul, Minn.
The No. 20 Prairie Wolves have the most wins by an NWU team since 1998 and finished the regular season 23-5. They were 11-1 against NCAA Division III foes.

A pair of Nebraska Wesleyan University volleyball players have been honored as CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VII selections. Senior libero Erika Goldsmith was named a First-Team Academic All-District winner, while Laura Brammeier earned Second-Team Academic All-District honors.

With her selection to the Academic All-District first team, Goldsmith advances to the national ballot for ESPN the Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-America recognition. The Academic All-America volleyball team will be announced on Nov. 22.

LINCOLN - Laura Brammeier and Kelsey Elman each pounded out 20 kills to lead Nebraska Wesleyan to a hard fought 3-2 victory over Briar Cliff University in GPAC Volleyball action on Saturday afternoon in Lincoln. NWU won in scores of 20-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-20, 15-9.
The 19th-ranked Prairie Wolves now have 20 wins on the year with a 20-3 overall record and a 9-2 mark in the conference.
Kim [Koelling] Planansky to be inducted into Nebraska Wesleyan Hall of FameLINCOLN, Neb. – The Athletic Hall of Fame at Nebraska Wesleyan University will induct seven new members as a part of Homecoming festivities on Saturday, Oct. 23.
The ceremony will be part of an induction breakfast, which starts at 9 a.m., in the Patio Dining Room of the Roy G. Story Student Center. Six former athletes and one Spirit of the Plainsmen award winners will be inducted this year. This year’s class includes: Jenny Blenderman Kissinger (women’s basketball, track & field), Kipp Kissinger (men’s basketball), Ryan Knispel (men’s golf), Kim Koelling Planansky (volleyball), Jeff Sieck (football), Andre Watts (men’s soccer) and Tom Hertzel (Spirit of Plainsmen).
Since 1970, NWU’s Athletic Hall of Fame has recognized the outstanding contributions of former student-athletes by inducting teams and individuals, as well as other strong supporters of the athletic program. Profiles on the Class of 2010 follow:
