Nebraska Juniors 17-1 wins 17 open at Show-Me QualifierKANSAS CITY, MO. - Defending USAV National champion Nebraska Juniors 17-1 punched its ticket to the 2011 tournament in Atlanta with a first-place finish in the 17 Open Division of the Show-Me Qualifier in Kansas City that concluded on Monday.
The Juniors, who are coached by NU's Lindsay Wischmeier, survived a pair of three-set matches in tournament play Monday before sweeping Invasion 17 Black 25-21, 25-16 in the finals.
To start the day, the Juniors, who include NU recruits Amber and Kadie Rolfzen and Kelly Hunter of Papillion-LaVista South and Lauren Sieckmann of Omaha Marian, along with Cassie Effken, Scarlett Howerter, Lauren Smith, Lea Sack and Alison Zastrow of Lincoln Pius X, Megan Stroyek and Lauren Poulicek of Papillion-LaVista South, and Natalie Minchow of Louisville, defeated Miz LB 17 Rockstar 19-25, 25-17, 15-13. The Juniors followed that win up with a 25-20, 23-25, 15-11 victory over ASICS MAVS 17 Blue.

Many Nebraska teams will be in competition at the second big national qualifying tournament this weekend in Kansas City.
Three bids to the USAV Nationals are up for grabs in the open divisions, while two will be awarded in the club division and one in the 12 club tournament.

RENO, Nev. (July 3, 2010) – The 16 Open, National and American Division club members closed-out the 31st USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships, Saturday, in Reno, Nev.
The 16 Open Division was the first to close the day as fourth-seeded Nebraska Juniors 16-1 (Great Plains) faced third-seeded Skyline 16 Roshambo (North Texas) in the championship match.

Amber and Kadie Rolfzen of Papillion-LaVista South and Lauren Sieckman of Omaha Marian played on the Nebraska Juniors 161 team that won the 16 OPEN Division, while Lara Dykstra played on the Sport Shack 18 Asics squad that won the 18 OPEN Division.
"I am very excited about playing with all of them," Dykstra said.

RENO, Nev. - Headlined by the Papillion-La Vista South sophomore trio of Kadie and Amber Rolfzen and Kelly Hunter, the Nebraska Juniors 161s won the open division at the USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championships on Saturday.
The squad is only the second in state history to win a girls open division national volleyball championship. Last year's Nebraska Juniors 18s team, led by current Huskers Lauren Cook and Gina Mancuso, captured the open title in that age division.

The only time high school volleyball gets discussed among Nebraska recruits Lauren Sieckmann and the Rolfzen twins, Amber and Kadie, is when Sieckmann is wearing her conversation-starter.
“One day, little Miss Bragger had to bring her state championship ring to practice, just to rub it in,” Kadie Rolfzen said, laughing, as she referred to Sieckmann, who led Omaha Marian to the Class A state championship, beating the Rolfzen-led Papillion-La Vista South in the finals last November.
