BRIDGEPORT — For the third straight year, the Hay Springs volleyball team’s chances of playing in next week’s state tournament will hinge on a wildcard after the Hawks dropped a 25-19, 23-25, 25-21, 25-16 decision to Mullen in the Class D-2, District 6 championship match Thursday night at Bridgeport High School.
The Hawks, who now boast a record of 25-4, have advanced to state on a wildcard entry in each of the last two seasons. Hay Springs looks to be in solid position to do that again this year. The official pairings will be released by the Nebraska School Activities Association today.
