Minatare Indians striving for more wins under new volleyball coach

MINATARE — After spending the last few seasons as the girls basketball coach at Minatare, Alisa Pittman takes over as the Indians’ volleyball coach this fall.

Pittman said the ability to work with a lot of the same players that she coached in basketball should make for a smooth transition.

Hay Springs improves to 10-0 with Hemingford Invite title

Hay Springs remains undefeated at 10-0 after winning the Hemingford Invitational Volleyball Tournament last Saturday. They downed the Minatare Ladies 25-13, 25-17 in the championship.

In pool play—Pool A, Minatare downed Hemingford 25-16, 25-20. “We just struggled to get much of anything going offensively,” Coach Lisa Janssen said. “We did do a pretty good job of serving, but we just couldn’t seem to get any momentum going and once we did, we had to struggle to keep it on our side.”

Minatare Takes 2nd at Hemingford Tournament

The Minatare Indians Volleyball Team took home second place at the Hemingford Invite for the second straight year. Minatare began the day with a 25-16, 25-20 win over the host Hemingford in Pool A. Pool B kicked off with Hay Springs defeating Sioux County 25-9, 25-8. Minatare then took down Hyannis with scores of 25-23, 25-18 to earn their way to the championship match. In Pool B, Morrill defeated Sioux County 25-16, 26-24 before falling to Hay Springs 23-25, 25-18, 25-19. The other Pool A game featured Hyannis over Hemingford 25-21, 25-10. The Minatare Indians fell to Hay Springs in the championship match by scores of 25-13, 25-17. Minatare improves their season record to 7-4 and will face Arthur County on Friday, September 25.
