Despite winning the C1-4 Subdistrict Tournament earlier this week, Scotus Central Catholic volleyball head coach John Petersen had a decent-sized list of things his club needed to shore up heading forward.

Friday's final: Ashland-Greenwood def. Auburn 23-25, 25-18, 21-25, 25-12, 15-11

C1-2 at Seward
Friday's final: Columbus Scotus def. Milford 25-18, 25-9, 25-13

C1-3 at Oakland-Craig
Friday's final: Concordia def. Wisner-Pilger 25-15, 25-17, 26-24

Milford defeated Tri County 25-15, 25-19, 27-29, 25-17 on Tuesday night.

Papillion-LaVista South was pushed to the brink of its first loss against St. James Academy in Lenexa, Kan. but survived. Columbus Scotus in C1 also was pushed but remained unbeaten. Lutheran High Northeast in C2 wasn't so lucky as Guardina Angels took down C2's last unbeaten. YORK - All the momentum resided on the York Dukes bench, when the Dukes took game two to take a 2-0 lead against Milford Tuesday night.

But at the 1 hour and 32 minute mark of the match, the game was all knotted up and momentum had changed benches as the Eagles held on in game five to win the match 3-2.

SYRACUSE - The past four seasons, the Syracuse volleyball team compiled a 123-13 record, with four Class C-1 state tournament appearances and a pair of semifinal finishes.

There may be new players and a new coach this season, but the Rockets are getting similar results.
The Class C-1 No. 5 Rockets improved to 19-3 by winning the four-team Syracuse Invitational on Monday, first defeating Falls City 25-14, 25-17, before downing No. 10 Milford in the final 25-15, 23-25, 25-15.

Papillion-LaVista swept Class B's new top team Lincoln Pius X in in the finals of the Lincoln Northeast Tournament, while former Class B No. 1 Gretna was defeated for the first time this season. Earlier last week, Kearney Catholic was defeated by Grand Island Central Catholic, switching up the rankings in C1. D1 BDS lost to Class C2 Blue Hill, but remains atop in D1 as does Bertrand in D2 and Lutheran High Northeast in C2 in this week’s Oct. 3 NebVolleyball/Jones Insurance Agency, Inc. Rankings for each classification.
