Midland University to host Briar CliffGame Time: The Midland University Warriors will host the Briar Cliff University Chargers on Saturday, October 15th. First serve is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. with the JV squad playing at 1:30 p.m. Click Here to view the live stream.
Last Year: The Warriors traveled to play the Chargers and came home with a 0-3 loss (22-25, 13-25, 26-28). Mackenzie Scheef led the Warriors in kills with seven while Katie Dettmer recorded six. Jill Swartz had a team high 15 set assists while Becca Gradoville had 19 digs.
Last Game: Midland University picked up their seventh conference win and 15th win of the season on Wednesday night's Dig Pink Night. The Warriors defeated the Concordia Bulldogs in four games (25-20, 23-25, 25-15, 25-19). Midland University was led in kills by Ashley Wheeler with 16. Keri Lunz also recorded 13 kills. Megan Farley recorded 46 set assists while Wheeler led in digs with 11. Halie Wewel recorded a season high six blocks. "We didn't play our sharpest match, but I am pleased with the way our players found ways to win." said Paul Giesselmann, Midland University volleyball head coach. "What really matters in the back end of the season is finding ways to earn the win."
Concordia falls to Midland University in four setsMidland University claimed a 3-1 GPAC volleyball win over Concordia University on Wednesday evening in Fremont . Scores of the match were 25-20, 23-25, 25-15 and 25-19. The Warriors snapped a 2-game losing streak to improve to 15-7 overall and 7-2 in GPAC play. Concordia had its 2-game winning streak snapped and slipped to 9-15 overall and 2-7 in conference play.
The Warriors jumped out to a 19-13 advantage in the first set. From there, Concordia pulled within four on multiple occasions, but Midland went on to win the set by the score of 25-20.
Midland University again led for much of the second set. The Warriors led by five at 18-13, but Concordia rallied. An ace by Amanda Kisker ( Lincoln , Neb. ) pulled the Bulldogs within one at 18-17, and Concordia finally took the lead at 21-20. The Bulldogs had two set points at 24-22. A kill by Amanda Abbott ( Temecula , Calif. ) secured the 25-23 win for Concordia.
Hastings College ends Midland University's winning streakHastings, Neb. - Midland University's eight game winning streak was snapped by Hastings College on Wednesday. The Warriors lost in three sets (20-25, 22-25, 15-25) as Hastings handed Midland their first GPAC loss of the season.
"I was disappointed in our lack of effort," said Paul Giesselmann, Midland University volleyball head coach. "Hastings beat us in every aspect of the game. We will focus on correcting our mistakes in practice this week and prepare for Saturday's match."
Katie Dettmer had nine kills for the Warriors. Becca Gradoville led the team in digs with 11, and Megan Farley had 29 set assists.

Last Year: Midland University was swept by Northwestern College in the season series last year. The Warriors dropped the first match in Orange City, Iowa, in three sets (25-14, 25-13, 25-21). The Warriors also were swept in their home match (25-12, 25-19, 25-17). In the first match, Katie Dettmer led the Warriors with 8 kills. In the second match, Katelyn Kerkman had 7 kills, and Becca Gradoville had 17 digs. The Warriors were held to a .010 hitting percentage in the final meeting.
Midland sweeps Nebraska Wesleyan to improve to 13-5Midland University earned their seventh straight victory beating Nebraska Wesleyan University in three sets (25-16, 25-18, 31-29) on Wednesday. With the conference win, Midland exceeds last season's GPAC win total and matches last season's overall win total.
"We did a great job of playing with intensity early," said Paul Giesselmann, Midland University head volleyball coach. "We responded well late in the game and kept our composure in a harsh environment. We are excited to get ready for another big game on Saturday."
Ashley Wheeler led the Warriors in kills with 13 while Katie Dettmer added 9. Becca Gradoville had 23 digs, and Megan Farley added 11 digs. Farley also added 37 set assists in the win.
Midland's Farley named GPAC setter of the weekMidland's Megan Farley was named this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Setter-of-the-Week. Farley, a freshman from Syracuse, Neb., totaled 87 set assists and averaged 12.43 assists per set during last week's wins over No.11 Doane College and Mount Marty College. She also added 11 digs and two service aces in the wins.
Farley and the Lady Warriors have won their last six matches and 11 of their last 13. Midland University stands at 12-5 on the season and 4-0 in GPAC play. They hope to continue their success Wednesday as they travel to Nebraska Wesleyan University for conference play.
Bellevue No. 15, Doane, Midland receive votes in latest NAIA pollThe Midland University volleyball team received votes in the latest NAIA Volleyball Coaches' Poll. The Warriors, now 12-5 on the season, are currently atop the Great Plains Athletic Conference standings.
Midland University is back in action on Wednesday night in Lincoln, Neb. against Nebraska Wesleyan.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Texas at Brownsville began its march through the Red River Athletic Conference with a pair of league wins over the past week and cemented itself as a unanimous No. 1 in the Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, the national office announced Tuesday. The Scorpions, who defeated Wiley (Texas) and Texas College to open up conference play, garnered all 23 first-place votes and 653 points.
Midland wins six straight, takes on Wesleyan on WednesdayThe Midland University volleyball team picked up their sixth straight victory with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-22) win over Mount Marty (S.D.). The Warriors were led in kills by Halie Wewel with 10 while Katie Detmer added 9. Mackenzie Scheef added 8.
"This was a good win for us today," said Paul Giesselmann, Midland University head volleyball coach. "Our girls have been in a lot of battles lately so it was nice to see them finish in three today."
The Warriors are now 12-5 overall and 3-0 in Great Plains Athletic Conference play. Midland University returns to the court on Wednesday night in Lincoln, Neb. against Nebraska Wesleyan at 7:30 p.m.
Midland heads to Mount MartyGAME DAY- Midland University at Mount Marty College
Game Time: Midland University will travel north to Yankton, S.D. to take on the Lancers of Mount Marty College. The match is set to begin at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday with the JV match to begin at noon.
Last Year: Midland and Mount Marty only squared off once last year with Midland winning the match 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 27-25) Midland was led in kills by a trio of players. Megan Hoesing, Katie Dettmer, and Mackenzie Scheef all recorded eight kills. Kaylie Heberly led in set assists with 16 while Jill Swartz was right behind with 15. Becca Gradoville led in the digs category with 12.
Midland defeats DoaneFREMONT - The Midland University volleyball team landed a big win over No.11 Doane College Wednesday. The Warriors beat the Tigers 3-1 (25-17, 25-21, 20-25, 28-26). Doane College held a season record of 18-1 going into the conference game.
"This was a quality win over a very respected opponent," said Paul Giesselmann, Midland University head volleyball coach. "Our team was down late and I was very proud of how they battle back and played to finish the match. We played to win the game at the end instead of playing scared."
Katie Dettmer led the Warriors in kills with 15 and a hitting percentage of .333 while Halie Wewel had 12 kills and a .303 hitting percentage. Becca Gradoville led with 19 digs as Ashley Wheeler had 11. Megan Farley recorded 51 set assists with a serve ace.
