MCCOOK — This one can be filed under the term “no contest.”
Wednesday, the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II, No. 7 Central Community College volleyball team faced little opposition in sweeping McCook Community College 25-9, 25-11, 25-3 on Day 1 of a two-day road trip.
Alred named new McCook Community College volleyball coachNatalie Alred set to begin first season at the helm of the McCook Community College Indian Volleyball program. She has coached for 22 years as a head coach, and has posted a 373 wins.
Prior to coming to McCook Community College, the 1987 graduate of Henderson State University served as the head womens coach at Colorado Christian and Letourneau University. Alred began her career at Arkansas Tech University in 1988 and earned a masters degree from her alma mater in 1992.
Another stop along the way was Tri-State University in Angola, Ind., where she coached the mens and womens teams. While in Angola, Alred earned a pair of National Coach of the Year honors in 1997 and 1998. One year later, Tri-State won the MIVA/NAIA National Championship in mens volleyball.

A little bit of recent controversy apparently hasn't affected the McCook Community College women's volleyball team.
The Indians, with just seven players on the roster, took Southeast C.C. of Beatrice to the limit before losing a five-set decision Wednesday Oct. 20, at True Hall gym on the MCC campus.

The Indians could not get any momentum going as Northeastern Junior College of Sterling, Colorado, swept MCC in action at the True Hall gym in McCook. Northeastern won by scores of 25-12, 25-13, 25-7.

MCCOOK - For one game Thursday, Sept. 30, the McCook Community College volleyball team looked like a winner.
But those victory hopes faded in mistakes and lost momentum, as Trinidad (Colorado) Junior College came back to win three straight games to beat the Indians in college volleyball action at True Hall gym.

MCCOOK – The Western Nebraska Community College volleyball team had three players register double figure kills in leading the Cougars to a four-set sub-region win over McCook Community College Tuesday in McCook.
Debora Araujo finished with 14 kills in the 25-12, 23-25, 25-13, 25-11 win over the Indians. Ariel Austin also chipped in 11 kills, while Kathryn Stock had 10 kills. The win was also the Cougars’ 20th victory of the season.

MCCOOK - Angela Franke, McCook Community College women's volleyball coach, has announced that she will leave MCC to take over the head volleyball coaching duties at St. Andrews Presbyterian College in Laurinburg, N.C. Coach Franke leaves MCC with a record of 7-37.
"Angela has been an excellent role model and we are saddened to lose such a quality person. We wish her well in all her future endeavors," said MCC vice president Dr. Richard Tubbs. "A search for her replacement will begin immediately."
