Nebraska Coaches Association All-Star game rosters released

The Nebraska Coaches Association has finalized the rosters for the 2012 NCA All-Star Volleyball team.

The 29th annual all-star volleyball match will be played on Tuesday, July 24, at Lincoln North Star High School beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Nebraska City Lourdes' Kayla Haneline signs with Northern Iowa

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa volleyball team has signed four additions to its 2012 roster, head coach Bobbi Petersen announced Thursday. Amanda Bries, Kayla Haneline, Leigh Pudwill and Lindsey Schulz each signed to play for the Panthers.

Haneline's move to outside hitter paying off for Lourdes CC

Shock and awe might be the best way to describe Lourdes Central Catholic all-stater Kayla Haneline's move two weeks ago from middle blocker to outside hitter.

The 6-foot-2 Northern Iowa volleyball recruit was certainly shocked when Lourdes coach Michelle Kreifels suggested the change, especially since Haneline has never played any other position but middle.

Papillion-LaVista swept Class B's new top team Lincoln Pius X in in the finals of the Lincoln Northeast Tournament, while former Class B No. 1 Gretna was defeated for the first time this season. Earlier last week, Kearney Catholic was defeated by Grand Island Central Catholic, switching up the rankings in C1. D1 BDS lost to Class C2 Blue Hill, but remains atop in D1 as does Bertrand in D2 and Lutheran High Northeast in C2 in this week’s Oct. 3 NebVolleyball/Jones Insurance Agency, Inc. Rankings for each classification.

Lincoln Northeast 3, Fremont 0: Toni Tupper had a match-high 14 kills for Northeast. Natalie Bohac added 13 kills for the Rockets.

Lincoln Pius X 3, Omaha Mercy 0: Cassie Effken and Scarlett Howerter each had 10 kills and Allison Zastrow had 27 assists for Pius X.
