PLEASANTON - Axtell's streak of reaching its seventh straight Fort Kearny Conference Tournament final was in jeopardy.

Down a set to Loomis, the Class D2 No. 7-rated Wildcats needed a lift and found one in Hailey Kring.

The third week of the season has come and gone. There were some more shake ups among some of the top teams in the lower classifications while most of the larger schools remained relatively unchanged in the Sept. 19 NebVolleyball/Jones Insurance Agency, Inc. Rankings for each classification.

AXTELL - It was definitely a team effort but when the chips were down in the third set, the Kring sisters took over to help overcome a first set deficit and down Fort Kearney Conference foe Loomis 17-25, 25-18, 25-19 in the third match of the Axtell Triangular Thursday.

MINDEN - The LouPlatte Conference All-Star volleyball team was slightly shorthanded on Thursday night at the New West All-Star Classic to benefit the Nebraska Kidney Association in Minden.

It didn't phase the LouPlatte All-Stars in their 25-11, 25-20. 25-15 victory over the Southwest All-Stars in the first game.

However, the lack of depth caught up with the LouPlatte Conference team of Cassie Donlinger and Mariah Reicks of Kearney Catholic, Taylor Hand of Ravenna, Angie Bowers of Wood River, Chelsea Caruso and Makenzie Mudloff of St. Paul and Brook Henry of Loup City as the Fort Kearny Conference All-Stars won the championship in three sets in the best-of-three format.

The New West All-Star Classic benefiting the Nebraska Kidney Association will be held on June 9 starting at 5 p.m. at Minden.

The Fort Kearny Conference recently announced the All-Conference selections for the season. These players also will make up the Fort Kearny Conference All-Star Team for the summer.

AMHERST — Undefeated Ansley was, for the most part, untested Thursday night.

The Class D-2, No. 1-rated Warriors never trailed throughout the first two sets and used a late run in set 3 to complete a 25-11, 25-15, 25-20 sweep of Loomis in the D-2, District 4 final at Amherst High School.

LOOMIS — Molly Weissert towed the back line and served the final 10 points for Elwood in Set 1 of the Pirates’ 25-12, 25-10 victory over S-E-M Monday at the Fort Kearny Conference Volleyball Tournament.

“The key was just keeping our serves in,” Elwood coach Codina Shutz said about what was integral in the win.

KEARNEY — Katie Morten’s eight kills helped Loomis to a 25-20, 12-25, 25-19 win Thursday night over Elm Creek at the Elm Creek Triangular.

Her seven ace serves did a lot more.

LOOMIS - Loomis finished 2-0 at its home triangular Tuesday to improve to 4-0 on the season.

Loomis defeated Arapahoe 25-21, 25-27, 25-14 and Maywood 25-9, 25-7.
In the other match, Arapahoe (2-1) defeated Maywood 25-11, 25-8.
