Players selected for West All-Star Game at Scottsbluff on June 2SCOTTSBLUFF — Players have been selected for the East and West teams for the 28th-annual West Nebraska All-Star Volleyball Game. The 26 members of the volleyball teams were nominated by their respective high school coach and selected by the all-star coaches.

LEXINGTON – The Lexington High School volleyball team and its members’ mothers are uniting against a common enemy: Breast cancer.
Starting with fundraisers and leading up to the Minutemaids home volleyball game against Holdrege, Tuesday Oct. 18, the Maids and their moms have teamed up with the Susan G. Komen of the Cure of Nebraska.

The NebVolleyball Class C1 No. 4 Minden volleyball team opened the 2011 season with a straight-set victory over Lexington on Thursday at Minden.
Mau, Peters to be head coaches for East vs. West All-Star game in ScottsbluffSCOTTSBLUFF—The volleyball coaches have been chosen to lead the West and East teams for the 27th annual West Nebraska All-Star Volleyball Game. This year’s game will be played Saturday, June 4th in Scottsbluff at Cougar Palace on the campus of Western Nebraska Community College. Game time is 2 p.m. MDT.
Michelle Peters from Mitchell High School will be the Head Coach for the West. This past season, Peters led her team to a 22-10 record. Mitchell made it to the semi-finals for the C2-12 district tournament where they lost to district champion Ogallala. This is Coach Peter’s second time as a coach in the All Star Game. She served as the assistant coach for the West in 2004
Lisa Janssen from Hemingford High School has been chosen as the assistant coach for the West squad for this year’s game.
Leading the East volleyball team is Lori Mau from Maxwell High School. This past season Mau led Maxwell to a record regular season record of 14-16.They lost to Cambridge in the semi-finals of the D1-11 District. This is Coach Mau’s first appearance as a coach in the West Nebraska All Star Volleyball Game.
Erica Burson from Lexington High School will serve as the assistant coach for the East squad.
A portion of the proceeds from the West Nebraska All-Star Volleyball game benefit the Scottsbluff County Volunteer Center.

KEARNEY – After two straight losses to the Hastings Tigers in the regular season, the Lexington Minutemaids volleyball team was looking to seek a little revenge in the opening round of the B-5 District Tournament Tuesday night at Kearney High School.
The Maids were prepared for Hastings the third time around, as Lexington was able to eliminate the Tigers from state contention in four sets, winning 29-27, 25-19, 21-25, 28-26.

SCOTTSBLUFF – The Lexington Minutemaids volleyball team was in desperate need of a momentum swing heading into the Greater Nebraska Athletic Conference volleyball tournament in Scottsbluff over the weekend.
The Maids went into Saturday’s tournament on a five-match losing streak, while during that stretch, had managed to win only two sets.
Lexington took a sharp turn in the positive direction and now looks to run deep into the district tournament after a third-place finish in the conference tournament.

Experience has not been a problem for the Ansley volleyball team this season.
The Warriors have everybody back from their state tournament team that finished 25-4 last season.
PREVIEW CLASS B - LexingtonLEXINGTON - Lexington (13-21) was similar to Hastings and Holdrege in that it defeated many of the teams that had comparable records, but struggled against those with better records.

KEARNEY — Grand Island Northwest is once again queen of the Class B, District 5 Tournament.
The Class B No. 2-rated Vikings won their ninth consecutive district championship after taking a 25-21, 25-7, 25-13 win over Lexington in the final Thursday at Kearney High School.
