Ogallala, Hershey to meet in C1-11 finalClick to view story on North Platte Telegraph.
NORTH PLATTE - Hershey survived and Ogallala dominated Monday in the first round of the C1-11 subdistrict held at North Platte High School.
Down two sets to love, the Lady Panthers came back from almost certain elimination to down Chase County 20-25, 26-28, 25-19, 26-24 and 15-6. Ogallala struggled in the first set, but defeated a much improved Gothenburg squad in three sets 25-23, 25-19 and 25-9. Hershey and Ogallala will meet in North Platte for the subdistrict championship tonight at 7 p.m.

HERSHEY - Going into the SPVA Volleyball Tournament, most coaches felt the teams would be close and games hotly contested.
Saturday during the semifinals and finals, the girls from Hershey, Chase County, Sutherland and St. Pat's didn't disappoint those who attended.

MAXWELL - Three coaches came out of the Maxwell Triangular on Saturday with different emotions.
One - St. Pat's coach Shelly Byrn - was happy.
NebVolleyball/Jones Insurance Agency Inc. Oct. 10 Rankings Papillion-LaVista South was pushed to the brink of its first loss against St. James Academy in Lenexa, Kan. but survived. Columbus Scotus in C1 also was pushed but remained unbeaten. Lutheran High Northeast in C2 wasn't so lucky as Guardina Angels took down C2's last unbeaten. Paxton and Kearney Catholic each went 3-0 Saturday in their respective divisions in winning the North
Platte Community College Volleyball Tournament.
On their way to the championship, Paxton defeated Maxwell 25-17, 19-25 and 25-4; SMC 25-8 and 25-11; and Eustis-Farnam 25-18 and 25-15.

LEXINGTON - Hershey fell one game short of taking the title at the Lexington Volleyball Invite Saturday in Lexington. St. Paul defeated the Lady Panthers 25-17, 25-16 in the title game, sending Hershey home with the runner-up trophy.
Hershey coach Amy Beyer said the loss to the Lady Wildcats helped show them where they need to improve.

Let's start things this week with an announcement, shall we? I can get easily confused when volleyball coaches start talking.
Sure bump, set, spike is supposed to be easy, but then last year I was reading about Nebraska and John Cook running an offense with two setters and now he's gone back to a single setter, but using an outside hitter when the setter is on the front row, meaning the setter then is someone else.

SUTHERLAND - What Nebraska high school volleyball coach will have coached at all four sites that have hosted the state tournament - Scottsbluff, Kearney, Lincoln and soon to be Grand Island?
That question was answered Friday night as Ogallala downed the Hershey Lady Panthers in the C1-6 District Finals, 23-25, 25-21, 25-16 and 25-18.
