No. 1 Cedar Valley sweeps Heartland Lutheran
by Darren Ivy/NebVolleyball

GRAND ISLAND - No. 1 Cedar Valley aced its second road test of the season on Tuesday at Heartland Lutheran.

The Mavericks took advantage of 17 aces serves to down Heartland Lutheran (0-3) by scores of 25-12, 25-7, 25-11.

"Serving is important and I think a lot of people overlook that," Cedar Valley head coach Todd Beck told the Grand Island Independent after the match. "A lot of teams are just looking to put the ball into play on their serve, but we want to use it as an offensive threat because we don't have a lot of big hitters. We need to be aggressive on our serves and we can't afford to give opponents any easy ones."
