North all-stars win Tribune Volleyball Classic - Northwest’s Kuehl leads the way with 13 killsHASTINGS — Grand Island Northwest middle Karny Kuehl helped lead the North All-Stars to a victory over the South All-Stars 25-18, 25-21, 24-26, 25-18 Thursday night in the third annual Hastings Tribune Volleyball Classic at Hastings College’s Lynn Farrell Arena.
The Nebraska Wesleyan-bound Kuehl tallied a match-high 13 kills while also adding three ace blocks and an assist to help lead her team of all-stars to the win.
Grand Island Senior High’s Allison Arnold posted 11 kills and four blocks as the two middles helped control the net for the North
All-Stars.
Kearney Catholic’s Kayla James finished with 26 assists while Heartland setter Miranda Driewer posted 19 assists.
Hastings Tribune All-Star game to be held on June 16 at 7 p.m.HASTINGS - The third annual Tribune Volleyball Classic will be Thursday, June 16 at 7 p.m. at Hastings College’s Lynn Farrell Arena. The match will pit the North All-Stars against the South All-Stars.

Kearney captures GNAC Tournament title over HastingsClick to view story in Kearney Hub
SCOTTSBLUFF — Tealyn Trimble and Katie Smith each tallied 10 kills to lead the Kearney volleyball team to a 25-15, 23-25, 25-19 victory over Hastings (13-17) in the Greater Nebraska Athletic Conference Tournament championship match Saturday.
It’s Kearney’s third conference tournament championship in the last four years. The Bearcats placed second last season.

GRAND ISLAND - Class B No. 4 Northwest got everything it wanted from Hastings in the final game of the Grand Island Volleyball Showcase Tuesday at the Heartland Events Center.
The Vikings pulled it out in the end for their 12th straight win, but the 25-23, 25-18, 25-17 victory was maybe a lot tougher than the Northwest players expected.

GRAND ISLAND - Volleyball fans will get an idea of what the state tournament in Grand Island will be like next month when the second annual Grand Island Volleyball Showcase takes place Tuesday at the Heartland Events Center.
The event will feature the three Grand Island schools, who are all ranked in their respective classes, two Hastings schools and Bellevue East.
PREVIEW CLASS B - HastingsHastings started the 2009 season 1-8, but finished 13-11 the rest of the season to finish with a 14-19 record.

St. Paul wins two at Hastings TriangularHASTINGS — St. Paul won two games at the Hastings Triangular defeating host Hastings 25-15, 25-15 and topping McCook 25-13, 25-12 Thursday in prep volleyball action.
Brittany Langan had eight kills and three aces to lead St. Paul (12-2) against McCook. Kirstey Grim added six kills and Tatum Wroblewski had 20 assists for the Wildcats.
Against Hastings, Langan again led St. Paul with eight kills. Wroblewski finished with 17 assists and Erika Voigt had four kills and three blocks for the Wildcats.
