Peru State tops Grace University

For just the second time this season, the Peru State College (PSC) Bobcat volleyball team won their second game in a row. In a non-conference game in Omaha, the Bobcats defeated the Grace University (GU) Royals 25-22, 25-22, 20-25, 25-21. With the win, PSC improved to 5-13 while Grace fell to 12-6.

Senior Maddy Lister (North Platte) had 12 kills to lead the Bobcats for the fifth game in a row with kills. Lister also added four digs and two assists in the Bobcat triumph. Jessie Clark (Omaha) was also in double figures in kills with ten. Clark also had three digs and one of the team’s three service aces.

Carly Morehead (Fairbury) and Tara Carstens (Lincoln) each added seven kills while Courtney Jurek (Bellevue), from her setter’s role, added six kills. Morehead topped the blockers with two solo blocks. In addition, Jurek led the team with 18 assists and had 14 digs and one service ace. PSC’s other setter in their 6-2 offense, Amanda Gilreath (Omaha) contributed 13 assists and five digs in the win.

College of St. Mary sweeps Grace University

OMAHA – College of Saint Mary volleyball picked up their second win of the season, sweeping Grace University in straight sets. The victory for the Flames improved their record to 2-14. Game scores were 25-21, 25-15 and 25-21.

Kaylee Wallce (Jr., Omaha, Neb.) led the Flames with ten kills. She added13 set assists in the match. Ashley Iwanski (Sr., Omaha, Neb.) had match high ten kills and a .417 attack percentage. She also had six digs.

Brittney Lester (FR, Fort Collins, Colo.) led CSM with 16 set assists. She added two ace serves. Courtney Iwanski (So., Omaha, Neb.) had a game high three service aces. Iwanski also had five kills and five digs.

Elmwood-Murdock's Stubbendeck commits to Grace University

MURDOCK – One of Elmwood-Murdock’s top female athletes officially learned Friday that she had earned a chance to receive a royal education on the college volleyball and basketball courts next season.

Elmwood-Murdock senior Erika Stubbendeck signed letters of intent with Grace University’s volleyball and basketball programs in a ceremony Friday morning. Multiple Great Plains Athletic Conference schools such as Nebraska Wesleyan and Morningside had expressed interest in Stubbendeck in both sports, but she elected to attend Grace’s Omaha campus because of the school’s Christian-based belief system.

Peru State volleyball wins two of three matches

NEBRASKA CITY — The Peru State College Bobcat volleyball team moved their overall record to 11-6 by winning two of the matches while playing on the road over the weekend.

On Thursday, the Bobcats travelled to Omaha to play a non-conference match against the Grace University Royals and won 25-23, 25-21, and 25-14.
