Nebraska natives help several teams make NCAA Volleyball TournamentWhen the NCAA Div. I Volleyball Tournament gets underway on Thursday and Friday across the country, the state of Nebraska will be well represented on the rosters of the teams that made it.
The home-state University of Nebraska-Lincoln volleyball team boasts eight Nebraska natives on its roster, but there are also at least 14 other native Nebraskans on other team's rosters that made the tournament.
Of these 22 Division I players, they hail for 20 different Nebraska high schools.

LINCOLN — Emily Wilson sat out the fourth set Tuesday night hoping her teammates would end the Nebraska Coaches Association all-star volleyball match.
But when the match went to the fifth set, the Missouri recruit from Omaha Gross was excited to get some extra playing time with Creighton recruit and club teammate Michelle Sicner from Millard North.

Gordon-Rushville twins Alicia and Alyssa Ostrander made their final time together on the volleyball court a memorable one as the sisters helped the West All-Stars post a thrilling five-set win over the East in the 25th annual West Nebraska All-Star Volleyball Match at Western Nebraska Community College on Saturday afternoon.
Alicia Ostrander, who is headed to Nebraska to play volleyball, led the West with 10 kills. She earned the West MVP honors after helping the West to a 25-18, 25-15, 23-25, 22-25, 15-3 win. It was the West’s sixth straight win over the East.

GORDON – Powerful, dominating, overwhelming and aggressive are just a few ways to describe Alicia Ostrander’s play during her senior season on the Gordon-Rushville volleyball team.

Chadon, Ogallala to meet in C1-12 finalClick to view story in Scottsbluff Star-Herald
ALLIANCE — The Chadron and Ogallala volleyball teams advanced to the championship of the Class C-1, Sub-district 12 Tournament after posting semifinal wins Monday night at Alliance High School.
The Cardinals and Indians will battle it out for the title today. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in Alliance. The winner will move into the district-final round on Friday.

CHADRON, Neb. - The Chadron High School volleyball team opened its season, Thursday, by defeating Gordon-Rushville 28-26, 24-26, 25-15, 25-13.
The Cardinals got 17 kills from senior Leanne Hinrichs, along with seven ace blocks and five digs. Junior Ashlynn Eitemiller contributed 16 ace serves, 14 kills, 10 digs and one ace block. Junior Jamie McLain had 14 digs and six kills
Chadron rallied to win the first game, after initially trailing 13-6.
In the second game, the Cardinals fell behind 7-0, but came back to tie it at 15. They led 24-23, and were about to win it when the Lady Mustangs’ Alyssa Ostrander hit the floor to save the ball from hitting the ground, keeping Gordon-Rushville alive, as they pulled out the win in game two.
Gordon-Rushville took an early 6-3 lead in the third game, but Chadron tied it at 10, and then cruised to wins in both game three and game four.
Nicole Blaylock provided 36 set assists for the Cardinals, who host Alliance on Tuesday.
