HASTINGS – The Nebraska West 17-1 team, which is made up primarily of Ogallala High School players, captured the 18 Open title at the Hastings Spring Spike that was held on March 6 at Hastings High School.
Nebraska West won five of six sets in pool play, sweeping Nebraska X 181 and Outer Limits 16 and splitting with Outer Limits 17. Then in the tournament, Nebraska West first won a three-set match over Nebraska X 181 before defeating Outer Limits 16 in three sets in the finals.

HASTINGS - The Nebraska Gold 17s out of Kearney, the Hastings Tigers 16-1 out of Hastings, the GI Juniors 15 out of Grand Island, the Platte Valley 141 and the Nebraska Heartland 13Us were the champions of their respective division at the Hastings Spring Spike Tournament on March 7.

Members of the Nebraska Gold 17s, which went 3-0-1, include Sarah Applegate of Kearney, Cicely Batie of Lexington, Melissa Blair of Phillipsburg, Kan., Raychel Chramosta of Gibbon, Kellsey Hoehner of Kearney, Kelsey Rouse of Shelton, Katie Smith of Kearney, Parker Straka of Kearney, Lauren Waggoner of Alma and Jessica Wojcik of Grand Island.
