GI Islanders 14 Black defeat Volleystrong Smash 14 in NVA Assurity Challenge|

LINCOLN - The GI Islander 14 Black squad finished out its club season with its third-consecutive tournament championship on Saturday at the NVA Assurity Life Challenge at the Abbott Sports Complex in Lincoln.
The Islanders defeated Volleystrong Smash 14 25-20, 25-22 in the finals.
Hastings High hosts Tiger Jam Feb. 6The Tiger Jam was held on Feb. 6 at Hastings High School and included 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16-year-old divisions.
In the 16 Open Division, South Central 16 Red finished first with a 3-1-1 record. Nebraska X 161 came in second with a 1-2-2 record, while GI Islanders 16 Purple and Hastings Tigers 16 were third with 1-1-2 and 1-2-1 respectively.
In the 15 Open Division, South Central Red went 3-0-2 to claim first place. In the championship, South Central 15 Red defeated Nebraska Gold 152 in three sets. Nebraska Gold 152 finished 3-1. Coming in tied for third was Hastings Tigers 15-1 with a 1-2-1 record and Nebraska Gold 151 with a 3-1 record. Rounding out the division was the GI Vikes 141 squad, which went 3-1-1 to place fifth, the Sandhill Slammers, which went 1-2-1 to place sixth and Bow Mojo 15 at 0-3-1 and Hastings Tigers at 0-4-1 to tie for seventh.

GRAND ISLAND - The Kearney Volleyball Club Crush 141 fought back from a big deficit to win the 14 Gold Division at the January Jam at Grand Island Northwest on Sunday afternoon.
The Crush (5-0), who are made up primarily of Kearney Catholic eighh-graders, dropped the opening set the the GI Vikes 14-1, who are Grand Island Northwest eight-graders, by a score of 25-21 and were down 21-19 in the second set before rallying to win 25-23. Then the Crush won a tightly-contested third set 15-11 to earn the victory.
