COLUMBUS — The Shamrocks aren’t happy with their play, but have at least one more match to correct it.
Monday at the Class C1-4 Subdistrict Tournament, the No. 1 Scotus Central Catholic volleyball team did not play at the level it expects, but still advanced to today’s final against Lakeview, beating Wahoo Neumann 25-8, 25-18, 25-16 at the CHS gym.

EAST BUTLER — The Scouts finally broke into the win column. And what better way to do that than with a sweep?
Tuesday, the David City volleyball team defeated East Butler 25-16, 26-19, 25-12 on the road to earn its first win of the 2011 season, doing so in rather dominating fashion.

Lincoln Northeast 3, Fremont 0: Toni Tupper had a match-high 14 kills for Northeast. Natalie Bohac added 13 kills for the Rockets.
Lincoln Pius X 3, Omaha Mercy 0: Cassie Effken and Scarlett Howerter each had 10 kills and Allison Zastrow had 27 assists for Pius X.

COLUMBUS — No matter what the format, when it comes to volleyball, communication is key.
The Silver team took down the Green team in four sets Thursday during the 21st annual Central Community College/Columbus Telegram All-Star Volleyball Match, winning 25-12, 25-20, 18-25 and 25-21, and talked throughout the match to take the win.

David City assistants to be co-head coachesAmy Sander and Elizabeth Grosc will be taking over the reigns of the David City volleyball program.
Both have served as middle school coaches for years together and Grosc had been Connie Lentz's assistant the last seven years.
Sander had been JV coach for several years before Lentz came to David City and has been Lentz's assistant the last two years.

Thayer Central earned the top seed for the Southern Nebraska Conference Tournament, which gets underway on Oct. 25.
The Titans will face the winner of the Tri County (No. 8) and Cross County (No. 9) match at 7 p.m. on Oct. 25 in Hebron.
