It doesn't matter now that the Beatrice volleyball team had a 6-21 record a week ago and had lost 10 of its past 12 matches heading into last Saturday's River Cities Conference Tournament.
The only thing that counts is that the Lady Orange are one of eight Class B teams headed to next week's state tournament in Grand Island.

Southeast Community College volleyball coach Carrie Foster-Puhalla has announced the signing of five student-athletes for the 2011 season.
Bailie Muller of Minden, Taylor Reetz of Crete, Tiffany Herbek of Deshler, MaKayla Gardner of Wallace, and Tiffany Powell of Wolfe City, Texas, have signed letters of intent to play volleyball for the Storm this fall.

GRAND ISLAND — York dropped two of their three games at the Central Conference Tournament to finish sixth, Saturday at Northwest High School.
“We played great in our first game against Northwest,” Dukes head coach Stacey Hall said. “If we would have played like that all day, we could have won all our games today.”

It took the Class B No. 2 Vikings just 50 minutes to dispose of Crete 25-8, 25-7, 25-9 in the season opener for both teams.
