COLUMBUS — It’s one thing to set a school record, but it’s an entirely different thing to make a mark on the state record books as well. That just goes to show how impressive Molly Gotschall’s play was on the volleyball court in 2011.
Gotschall, a junior at Lakeview High School, left her stamp on the record books this season by setting two state records. The Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) recently confirmed that Gotschall set the Class C-1 record for digs in a season and digs per match in a season.

COLUMBUS — The Shamrocks aren’t happy with their play, but have at least one more match to correct it.
Monday at the Class C1-4 Subdistrict Tournament, the No. 1 Scotus Central Catholic volleyball team did not play at the level it expects, but still advanced to today’s final against Lakeview, beating Wahoo Neumann 25-8, 25-18, 25-16 at the CHS gym.

LOGAN VIEW — The Viqueens are putting it all together, and their timing couldn’t be better.
After a strong showing last weekend at the Central Conference Tournament, the Lakeview volleyball team continued its confident play with a road sweep of Logan View, winning 25-11, 25-12, 25-6.

The Lakeview volleyball team took second place Saturday at the Aurora Invite, going 2-1 on the day. The Viqueens opened with a 25-17, 25-23, 25-20 win over Crete before losing 20-25, 25-15, 25-10 to the host Huskies.

ANSLEY — Kara Ostrand (18) and Siera Rohde (16) combined for 34 service points to lead undefeated Ansley to a 25-15, 25-20, 25-13 victory over Elba/North Loup-Scotia (0-3).

COLUMBUS — The Lakeview volleyball team looked like it was sleepwalking through the first part of its match against Central City. But once the Viqueens woke up, they took care of business.
Lakeview dug itself into a 15-8 hole in the first set, but battled back to win the set and sweep the match 25-23, 25-19, 25-20 Thursday at the Lakeview High School gym.

COLUMBUS — No matter what the format, when it comes to volleyball, communication is key.
The Silver team took down the Green team in four sets Thursday during the 21st annual Central Community College/Columbus Telegram All-Star Volleyball Match, winning 25-12, 25-20, 18-25 and 25-21, and talked throughout the match to take the win.
