College of St. Mary
Shelby Easley of Omaha Northwest signs her letter of intent to College of St. Mary while her family and CSM head coach Samantha Hammond look on.

OMAHA – Head coach Samantha Hammond announced the signing of Shelby Easley (Omaha, NE/Omaha Northwest High School) to a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic career at College of Saint Mary.

Easley participated in volleyball all four years of high school at Omaha Northwest. She set the single season record of number of set assists with 580 at her high school. Easley also received the Leadership Award for Volleyball-Kiwanis Club.

Easley choose CSM based on the volleyball and nursing program.

Telegram Super Senior Maddie Scow of Shelby-Rising City signed a National Letter of Intent Tuesday to play volleyball next fall at the College of Saint Mary, making her Jan. 10th birthday little more magical.

Four Flames Earn Post Season Honors

POINT LOOKOUT, MO. -- The Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference announced the 2011 All-MCAC Women's Volleyball Teams in conjunction with the MCAC Tournament over the weekend in Point Lookout, Mo.

College of Saint Mary landed four players on the All-Conference teams. Leading the way for CSM are first team members Ashley Iwanski (Omaha, Neb.) and Jessica Kuehner (Omaha, Neb.). Joy Leick (Omaha, Neb.) was named to the MCAC Second Team. Bailey Collins (North Platte, Neb.) garnered an honorable mention selection.

Iwanski, a senior, repeated as a first team all-conference selection this season. She led the Flames with 369 kills, 48 ace serves, and 342 digs.

College of St. Mary sweeps Haskell in final regular-season game

OMAHA – College of Saint Mary volleyball ended the regular season by sweeping Haskell University 25-19, 25-22, 25-22 on Saturday afternoon. The win qualifies the Flames for the MCAC post season tournament.

The Flames were led by senior Ashley Iwanksi (Omaha, Neb.). The senior hitter had 16 kills and 14 digs. Iwanski also had a solo block and two set assists in her final home game. Courtney Iwanski (Omaha, Neb.) had nine kills and seven digs. Kaylee Wallace (Omaha, Neb.) added seven kills and 21 assists in the win. Brittney Lester (Tecumseh, Neb.) dished out 16 assists and had an ace serve.

CSM ends the regular season with an 11-23 overall record and a 6-5 mark in the MCAC. Post season pairing will be out early in the week.

College of St. Mary swept by Bellevue University, concludes season this weekend

OMAHA - College of Saint Mary volleyball was swept at home 3-0 by 25th-rated Bellevue University. Game scores were 25-19, 25-8, and 25-20. CSM is now 9-23 overall and 4-5 in conference play.

Ashley Iwanski (Omaha, Neb.) led the Flames with five kills. Iwanski also had two ace serves and 11 defensive digs. Joy Leick (Omaha, Neb.) and Jessica Kuehner (Omaha, Neb.) each had four kills. Kaylee Wallace (Omaha, Neb.) had ten set assists to lead the CSM offense. Baylee Collins (North Platte, Neb.) had nine digs in the loss. Courtney Iwanski (Omaha, Neb.) had eight digs and three kills.

CSM finishes the regular season at home this weekend. The Flames host Central Christian on Friday night, November 4, at 7:00pm. Friday’s game will honor volleyball’s lone senior player and parents of all players. Saturday afternoon, Haskell University visits the Lied Fitness Center for a 3:00pm match.

College of St. Mary sweeps Central Baptist

OMAHA – CSM volleyball swept Central Baptist College 3-0 on Saturday morning at the Lied Fitness Center in a MCAC conference match. The game scores were 26-24, 25-17, and 27-25. The Flames improve to 4-4 in conference play and to 9-22 overall.

Joy Leick (Omaha, Neb.) led the the attack with 12 kills and a .333 attack percentage. Leick also had a solo block and assisted on another block. Kaylee Wallace (Omaha, Neb.) had eight kills and a .412 attack percentage. She also had 14 set assists, seven digs, and a solo block. Ashley Iwanski (Omaha, Neb.) had seven kills and a service ace. Iwanski also had 11 defensive digs to lead the team. Jessica Kuehner (Omaha, Neb.) had seven kills and one solo block. Brittany Lester (Tecumseh, Neb.) had 19 set assists in the win. Lester also served three aces. Danyel Borgmann (Seward, Neb.) served four aces. Lindsey Gumb (Burwell, Neb.) had six kills and three set assists.

CSM continues their home stand on Tuesday, Nov. 1 as they host conference foe Bellevue University. Game time is set for 7:00pm on campus at the Lied Fitness Center.

College of St. Mary falls to Briar Cliff

College of Saint Mary sees their two match winning streak snapped by GPAC member Briar Cliff. The Chargers sweep CSM 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-14) in Sioux City, Iowa. BCU is now 8-14 overall, while the Flames fall to 8-17.

College of Saint Mary travels to Storm Lake, Iowa on Friday, October 14 to face Buena Vista University at 7:00pm. On Saturday, the Flames host Dordt College at 7:00pm

CSM, Bellevue alumni meet in contest before Tuesday's current college team's game

OMAHA - College of Saint Mary and Bellevue University will host an alumnae volleyball game on October 4, starting at 6:00pm at the Lozier Fitness Center on the campus of Bellevue University. This will be the first-annual alumnae match between the two MCAC schools.

Bellevue University sweeps College of Saint Mary

BELLEVUE, Neb. - The 14th-ranked Bellevue University volleyball team won its 13th-straight match, sweeping College of Saint Mary 3-0 (25-17, 25-12, 25-21) in Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference action Tuesday night at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.

Bellevue is now 17-4 overall and 6-0 in league play while CSM fell to 6-16 and 2-2 in the MCAC. The win also marked the Bruins' 12th-straight win over the Flames and fifth consecutive win in straight sets.

Maureen Wardian (Omaha, Neb.) (12) and Sunny Bell (Omaha, Neb.) (11) both recorded double-digit kills while Jordan Broady (Johnson, Neb.) collected 42 assists and directed the Bruin offense to a .279 hitting percentage. Meghan Evans (Omaha, Neb.) anchored BU's defense that held CSM to .100 hitting and registered a match-high 20 digs.
