CLASS D2 - Clay Center sweeps Mullen in first roundLINCOLN - Looking at the 25-10 final score of the third and final game of the match, it may seem like the Clay Center Wildcats dominated their D-2 first round opponent in the Mullen Broncos, but the match at Lincoln Southwest on Thursday was anything but one-sided.

Rosters announced for second annual Hastings Tribune All-Star Volleyball game on June 17HASTINGS - The rosters for Thursday's Hastings Tribune 7 p.m. All-Star match at Hastings College were recently released.

Clay Center's Sorensen signs with University of Nebraska-OmahaOMAHA, Neb. - Abby Sorensen, a first team all-state honoree her final two years and the all-time kills leader at Clay Center High School has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Nebraska-Omaha and play volleyball for the Mavericks this fall. Maverick head coach Rose Shires announced the signing Tuesday.
The 5-11 outside hitter from Aurora, Neb., also earned honorable mention all-state her sophomore year. She closed her high school career as Clay Center's all-time leader in kills in a career (1,234), season (549 as a senior) and match (32 as a senior). Her senior year she was named to the Omaha World-Herald and Lincoln Journal Star Class D-2 all-state first teams.The Journal Star named her honorary captain and the Hastings Tribune named her the player of the year.
She earned the same all-state honors her junior year when she led all classes in the state with a .520 hitting percentage.
