CLARKSON — It took five sets, but the Patriots earned fifth place in conference.
The Clarkson/Leigh volleyball team defeated Humphrey St. Francis 20-25, 25-20, 22-25, 27-25, 15-6 Tuesday at home, to take fifth in the Cornhusker Conference Tournament.
NebVolleyball/Jones Insurance Agency Inc. Oct. 3 Rankings Papillion-LaVista swept Class B's new top team Lincoln Pius X in in the finals of the Lincoln Northeast Tournament, while former Class B No. 1 Gretna was defeated for the first time this season. Earlier last week, Kearney Catholic was defeated by Grand Island Central Catholic, switching up the rankings in C1. D1 BDS lost to Class C2 Blue Hill, but remains atop in D1 as does Bertrand in D2 and Lutheran High Northeast in C2 in this week’s Oct. 3 NebVolleyball/Jones Insurance Agency, Inc. Rankings for each classification.

DODGE — Tuesday’s triangular at Dodge was a good one for the Clarkson/Leigh volleyball team, which swept both matches. The Patriots started off with a 26-24, 25-15 win over Spalding/Spalding Academy, before beating the host Pirates 25-18, 25-17.
drian Bruhn had 18 kills and 27 digs on the day. Malori Machmueller had 41 total assists, while Bailey Bond had three blocks. Jasmine Osten and Marissa Pelan each had two ace serves at the triangular.

STANTON — The Patriots’ debut was a successful one to say the least.
Playing matches for the first time, the Clarkson/Leigh volleyball team went 2-0 Thursday at the Stanton triangular. The Patriots cruised past Madison 25-10, 25-11 in the first match, and downed the host Mustangs 25-14, 23-25, 25-15.

HUMPHREY — The Cornhusker Conference championship game is set, and what a battle it will be.
The Class D-1, No. 5 Humphrey volleyball team won its side of the tournament bracket Saturday in Humphrey to advance to the title game. The Bulldogs will take on Class D-2, No. 1 Howells, which won its side at home.
