Eagles playing three matches in three days The Chadron State College volleyball team will have its first go-around with the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference this weekend.
Beginning Thursday at Western New Mexico, the Eagles (3-5) will play three matches in three days against conference foes. Following Thursday’s tilt with the Mustangs in Silver City, N.M., Chadron State will New Mexico Highlands on Friday and Colorado State University-Pueblo on Saturday.
Western New Mexico, which has a record of 4-4 this season, has never lost to the Eagles in six matches. New Mexico Highlands is 5-3 and CSU-Pueblo is 4-4. One of the ThunderWolves’ wins came over Chadron State at the Rockhurst Invitational in Kansas City, but it didn’t count as a conference match.
Chadron State splits first two matches at Rockhurst TournamentKANSAS CITY – The Chadron State College volleyball team got its season off on the right foot by winning its season-opener over Rockhurst University at the Hawks’ Tournament Friday in Kansas City.
The Eagles won their first match 25-23, 17-25, 25-11, 27-25, before falling to Colorado State University-Pueblo in a non-conference match, 29-27, 25-11, 28-26, 25-19.
Chadron State will play the University of Mary and William Jewell today (Saturday) at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

CHADRON – A new era of Chadron State College volleyball will test the waters this weekend when the Eagles play four matches in the Rockhurst University Tournament in Kansas City.
Following a nationwide search last winter, Natasha Marquis was hired as the Eagles’ new coach and the 12th since the program was officially launched in 1972.
New CSC volleyball coach impressed by players’ work ethic CHADRON – Naturally, the new coach of the Chadron State College volleyball team can’t project how her team will fare this fall, but she’s extremely pleased with the effort her players are making to become successful.
A couple of months after Natasha Marquis was hired last spring, she spoke highly of the players she had inherited.
“They are a great group. They are definitely not afraid of hard work and they want to do better. They care about the game and have lots of heart. Those are things you can’t teach,” she said.

CHADRON – The first week of fall camp for the Chadron State College volleyball team has gone well, according to first-year head coach Natasha Marquis.
The Eagles have had 10 practices, in addition to conditioning drills. They also scrimmaged against Eastern Wyoming and South Dakota School of Mines on Saturday in front of over 100 people.

The Chadron State College volleyball team is picked to finish seventh in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference East Division, as voted on by conference coaches for the Preseason Poll.
The Eagles, who finished the 2010 season with a 2-24 record and a 1-17 mark in the RMAC, are also predicted to finish 13th overall in the conference.
Chadron State College to open practice Monday with 18 playersCHADRON – Eighteen Chadron State College volleyball players will report for the Eagles’ preseason camp Sunday.
The team will undergo a strength test Sunday evening and have its first practice Monday morning.
The Eagles will practice twice a day the first week of camp before hosting a scrimmage against Eastern Wyoming and South Dakota School of Mines Saturday, Aug. 20 at 10 a.m.

CHADRON – Five volleyball players have recently signed National Letters of Intent to continue their careers at Chadron State College, first-year head coach Natasha Marquis announced.
Kelsey Christian, Anthonya Schaffert, Erika Roybal and Michaela Schmitt are incoming freshmen, while Ashley McMullen joins the Eagles after playing a season at Colby Community College.

CHADRON – The Chadron State volleyball team will get its spring schedule underway Saturday, March 26 at a tournament hosted by Western Nebraska Community College.
In addition to Chadron State and WNCC, volleyball teams from the University of Alaska-Anchorage, Black Hills State and Oklahoma Baptist will compete.
