GRAND ISLAND - There is no better time to play your best volleyball than in the postseason.
Centura took that to heart against Shelton in the Class C-2, Subdistrict 10 tournament Monday at Grand Island Central Catholic. The Centurions came out strong and never really let up in surprising the Bulldogs 25-21, 25-16, 27-25 win to advance to the subdistrict finals.
"This has to be the best we have played all season," Centura coach Heather Ferralez said. "We all haven't really been on all season until tonight. It was good for us. When you are at this point of the season, records don't matter."

CAIRO — Katie Brand had 16 kills and 25 set assists as Class C-1 No. 3 Grand Island Central Catholic downed Centura 27-25, 25-20, 25-16.
Sam Moravec had 14 kills and 15 digs for the Crusaders (10-2) and Kelsie Scheel seven kills. Kelsey Flaherty served 15 points and Erin Sorahan had 21 digs.
Kearney Catholic rolls past Centura on Senior NightKearney- It may have been cold and rainy outside but the heat was turned up inside the Cope Coliseum as the No. 1 Kearney Catholic Stars (7-0) took on LouPlatte rivals Centura (1-3).

Sept. 9 Game SummariesAnsley def. Elba/NL- Scotia
ANSLEY — Kara Ostrand (18) and Siera Rohde (16) combined for 34 service points to lead undefeated Ansley to a 25-15, 25-20, 25-13 victory over Elba/North Loup-Scotia (0-3).
Rohde led the Warriors (6-0) with 11 kills and five ace blocks.

Wood River knocks out Centura in second round of LouPlatte Conference TournamentCAIRO - The Centura volleyball team defeated Adams Central 26-24, 25-23, 25-23 in the opening game of the LouPlatte Conference Tournament, but were defeated by Wood River 23-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-14.
In the Adams Central match, Courtney Aiken totaled 21 digs, six solo blocks and six kills. Teammate Vanessa Sonnenfeld led the Centurions with 15 kills, followed by Lynae Little with 12 kills.
Kirby Staroscik and Angelica Young both dished out 15 set assists.
Wood River defeats Ord in three sets to remain undefeatedORD — The Wood River volleyball team improved to 4-0 by taking two matches at the Ord Triangular Thursday.
The Eagles posted a 25-22, 19-25, 25-21 win over Ord and a 25-19, 25-11 win over Centura.
Against Ord, Morgan Heise paced the Eagles with 13 kills and six digs, while Angie Bowers had eight kills and 10 digs. Kelsey Bahe had 20 set assists.
