OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — To the casual spectator, this weekend’s Johnson County Community College volleyball tournament might as well have been the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II National Tournament.
With five of the six teams ranked in the NJCAA Division II preseason poll, Central Community College definitely had its work cut out for it.

COLUMBUS — Katie Beiermann sure took a roundabout way to greatness.
Recently named a National Junior College Athletic Association Division II first team All-American, the Central Community College freshman volleyball player traveled out of state and played a different sport before finding a home on the hardwood as a Raider.
CCC Hall of Fame inaugural class to include several volleyball players, coachCOLUMBUS – The public is invited to attend the Inaugural Central Community College Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet and Induction Ceremony Jan. 22 at the Elks Country Club in Columbus.
Seven individuals and one team will be inducted at the event, which will begin with a social hour at 6 p.m. and the meal at 7 p.m.
The purpose of the CCC Athletic Hall of Fame is to honor former athletes, teams, coaches, and/or individuals who have distinguished themselves who made substantial contributions to the Columbus or Hastings Campus athletic programs.
Cedar Valley's Darian Erickson signs with Central Community CollegeGREELEY - Cedar Valley senior Darian Erickson has signed a national letter of intent to play volleyball at Central Community College-Columbus in the fall.
Erickson, a setter, helped Greeley-Wolbach win the Class D2 state title in 2009 and Cedar Valley place third in Class D1 in 2010.

COUNCIL BLUFFS — The Central Community College volleyball team suffered through a tough weekend, going 1-3 at the Iowa Western Invitational.
“We just weren’t sharp the whole weekend,” Central CC coach Mary Young said. “It was a combination of things.”
