Boone Central drops two at St. Paul triangular

ST. PAUL — The Boone Central volleyball team remained winless on the season Tuesday, losing two matches at a triangular in St. Paul.

The Cardinals lost 25-23, 25-12 to St. Paul, before dropping a 25-20, 25-14 match to Adams Central.

WEST POINT — The Boone Central volleyball team put up a fight, but lost in straight sets 25-19, 25-18, 27-25 to Class D-1, No. 2 Guardian Angels Central Catholic Thursday in West Point.

Jenna Lehmann led the Cardinals with six kills, four ace serves, four digs and a block. Jade Gottier and Marissa Beierman each had three kills. Alexa Johnson and Kaity Stuhr each had 10 assists.

ALBION — The Boone Central volleyball team opened the season Thursday with a 25-18, 25-16, 25-13 loss against O’Neill.

Jenna Lehmann led the squad with six kills and three blocks. Alexa Johnson had 14 set assists and three ace serves, while Jade Gottier and Rachel Lee each had four digs.
Thursday, Boone Central travels to face Class D-1, No. 2 Guardian Angels Central Catholic.

Columbus Lakeview defeats Boone Central in finals of tournament

ALBION — Boone Central won its pool before falling to Columbus Lakeview 25-15, 25-17 at the Boone Central Invitational.

Boone Central downed Schuyler 13-25, 25-20, 25-19 and O’Neill 25-22, 16-25, 25-18 in pool play.

Central City defeated Creighton 25-22, 25-18 as Lexie Malm had eight kills and four blocks. Jordanne Speer had five kills and six digs.

COLUMBUS — That was one heck of a wake-up call.

Thursday, heading into the third set of the 20th annual Central Community College/Columbus Telegram All-Star Volleyball Match, both the Silver and Green teams were tied at 1-all, with the match being anyone’s to win.

Boone Central loses heartbreaker

On Thursday, September 3, the Boone Central volleyballers had a five-set heartbreaker against the O'Neill Eagles. The Cards dominated the first two sets with ease. Come third set, though, the Boone Central girls lost grip and the O'Neil Eagles stepped up their game. Serves were missed by the Cardinals while they came as no problem to the Eagles. The Cardinals stayed in it, though, and fought till the end with close third and fourth sets. The Cardinal's hitting was phenomenal and their team work and chemistry was even better. The Cardinals are looking forward to a rematch next weekend. Eagles beware.

Spenner leads Green past Silver in Columbus All-Star game
