MITCHELL - The Mitchell volleyball team equaled last year's win total, picking up its 21st and 22nd victories of the season in impressive fashion in the Mitchell Triangular on Tuesday evening.
The Tigers took care of Creek Valley in the opener 25-18, 25-13 behind a double-double from senior Andee Grentz, who had 13 kills and 10 digs. Mitchell then went on to dispose of Bayard 25-10, 25-9 behind Nicole Houston's 13 points and seven aces.

BAYARD - The Kimball Longhorns swept the Bayard Tigers 3-0 in Tuesday night's volleyball match at Bayard High School. Both teams played two weeks ago and Kimball won that match as well.
The opening game was dominated by the Lady Longhorns, who won 25-18. Kimball jumped out to a 5-1 lead before extending its advantage to 10-4 and then 12-4. Moments later, Kimball took a 21-12 lead and pushed its advantage to 24-18. Darbi Klinkhammer scored Kimball's final point on a kill.

DALTON - After dropping matches to Bridgeport and Perkins County on Saturday at the Bridgeport Tournament, No. 10 rated Leyton (Class D-2 Omaha World Herald) found itself back on track after derailing Garden County 25-4, 25-22; and Bayard 25-8, 25-13 Tuesday night at Leyton High School.
The wins extend the Warriors' record to 9-2 on the season.

Scottsbluff High School didn't have to look too far when it came to hiring a new volleyball coach to replace Shana Dick, who resigned at the end of last season. Assistant coach Megan Burda has been hired to take Dick's place.
The 30-year old Bayard native steps in to her first head coaching position after two years with the seventh grade program, one year with the freshman team and the last three campaigns as the junior varsity coach.
