Leyton stays hot, sweeps Banner County and Potter-Dix

DALTON - Fresh off winning its sixth consecutive Minuteman Activities Conference Tournament championship on Saturday, the Leyton volleyball team continued gaining steam as the regular season winds down by collecting a pair of wins over Banner County and Potter-Dix in a triangular held Tuesday night in Dalton.

Leyton, ranked No. 9 in Class D-2 (Omaha World-Herald), had little trouble in either match. The Warriors opened with a 25-10, 25-20 sweep over Banner County before sweeping Potter-Dix 25-21, 25-12 in a rematch of Saturday's MAC title match.

HARRISBURG – The Banner County volleyball team heads into this season with lots of experience – and high expectations.

The Wildcats, who finished 8-22 last year, are looking to perform much better this year, helped by the return of five starters.

Banner County sweeps Hemingford

HARRISBURG — The Banner County volleyball team posted a 25-18, 25-21, 25-23 win against Hemingford on Thursday in Harrisburg.

Bethany Cooper paced Banner County with seven kills, five aces and four digs. Jessica Bruce served eight points and had four digs, while Kinsey Knaub had six set assists.

SCOTTSBLUFF - After helping lead their respective teams to the state tournament last fall, Bridgeport’s Manda Steer and Leyton’s Shelby Waite hope to enjoy success as teammates for the West All-Stars in this week’s West Nebraska All-Star Volleyball Match.

Not only will the two team up for Saturday’s match, which is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff, they will then be teammates again when they join forces on a Nebraska all-star team that will compete in a tournament in Hawaii in July.

West volleyball team stings East in five sets at Scottsbluff All-Star game

SCOTTSBLUFF - The West All-Stars got all they could handle from the East All-Stars on Saturday, but the West managed to capture three of the five sets to earn the victory in the annual West Nebraska All-Star Volleyball Match at WNCC’s Cougar Palace.

West All-Star head coach Jackie Rahmig, of Bridgeport, said she was very pleased with her team’s performance and the work her players put in preparing for the match.
