Some eyebrows were raised when freshman Hanna Justesen was in the Elmwood-Murdock volleyball starting lineup from Day 1 this season.
It didn't take long for the dynamic 5-foot-9 middle blocker to blast some eye-opening kills and win over the doubters. Justesen combines with 6-foot senior all-stater Megan Schmale to provide the 1-2 punch that has powered the ninth-ranked Knights (28-7) into the Class C-2 state tournament.

Wahoo High School placed two players on the All-Nebraska Capitol Conference Volleyball Team released recently.
Setter Mahala Egr and teammate Kayla Bennett of the Warriors were named to the first team. Other first-team picks include Jessica Bird and Ashley Pearson of Bennington, Kami Burke of Ashland-Greenwood and Syracuse teammates Jeni Bennett and Megan Farley.
