NebVolleyball/Jones Insurance Agency Inc. Oct. 10 Rankings Papillion-LaVista South was pushed to the brink of its first loss against St. James Academy in Lenexa, Kan. but survived. Columbus Scotus in C1 also was pushed but remained unbeaten. Lutheran High Northeast in C2 wasn't so lucky as Guardina Angels took down C2's last unbeaten. NebVolleyball/Jones Insurance Agency Inc. Oct. 3 Rankings Papillion-LaVista swept Class B's new top team Lincoln Pius X in in the finals of the Lincoln Northeast Tournament, while former Class B No. 1 Gretna was defeated for the first time this season. Earlier last week, Kearney Catholic was defeated by Grand Island Central Catholic, switching up the rankings in C1. D1 BDS lost to Class C2 Blue Hill, but remains atop in D1 as does Bertrand in D2 and Lutheran High Northeast in C2 in this week’s Oct. 3 NebVolleyball/Jones Insurance Agency, Inc. Rankings for each classification.

FREMONT - Fremont Bergan volleyball coach Scott Painter challenged his team and the Lady Knights responded Tuesday night.
Bergan defeated Arlington 25-19, 25-13, 25-20 and is now 3-3 on the season.

Wahoo Neumann volleyball opponents were well aware of Alyssa Stanek's power as a hitter, but her versatility helped the Cavaliers succeed.
"Alyssa is a great athlete that just wants her team to have success even if all eyes are on her," Neumann coach Shelly Hagemann said. "She would find other ways of putting the ball away in the front row like tipping to the open spot or a roll shot to the corners to keep defenses off-balance. Every team was keying on the hard hit so she just changed her tempo and made the defense move."

Wahoo High School placed two players on the All-Nebraska Capitol Conference Volleyball Team released recently.
Setter Mahala Egr and teammate Kayla Bennett of the Warriors were named to the first team. Other first-team picks include Jessica Bird and Ashley Pearson of Bennington, Kami Burke of Ashland-Greenwood and Syracuse teammates Jeni Bennett and Megan Farley.

The 2009 Arlington High School graduate is still in the midst of her first semester at the Sioux City, Iowa, school, but she has moved past the JV level.
