ALLIANCE - The Scottsbluff volleyball team enjoyed a solid team performance Tuesday en route to defeating Class B, District 8 foe Alliance 25-10, 25-21, 25-21 Tuesday night at Alliance High School.
The victory was the Bearcats' first win against the Bulldogs in three matches this season.
"I thought we played really well," Scottsbluff coach Megan Burda said. "They were able to move. I think our defense picked it up just a little bit, and I think we were kind of able to dictate the play of the game because we were so aggressive."

After the week that was, it was probably a little amazing that the McCook High School volleyball team showed up to play at the McCook Invitational Saturday, Sept. 17.
The Bison suffered through several injuries in the week leading up to the annual home tournament. But McCook ended the tournament in fourth place and was competitive in two losses after losing arguably four of the top varsity players on the roster.

Scottsbluff advances to finals to face GeringClick to view story on Scottsbluff Star-Herald
OGALLALA — Megan Gealy registered a whopping 43 digs Thursday night, helping the Scottsbluff volleyball team keep its season alive with a four-set win over Alliance in the semifinal round of the Class B, District 6 Tournament.
The victory advances Scottsbluff into today’s championship match against Gering, a three-set winner over McCook in Thursday’s other semifinal clash. First serve tonight is set for 7 p.m.

Scottsbluff sophomore Morgan Westphal heated up again Tuesday night, collecting 10 kills, 10 digs, and 14 assists to help ignite the Bearcat volleyball team to a three-set sweep over Alliance.
Led by Westphal’s powerful net play, the Bearcats pulled away in the opening set for a 25-17 victory. Scottsbluff then overcame some stiff battles in the next frames, clinching the match with 25-21 and 25-20 wins.
PREVIEW CLASS B - AllianceAlliance (17-14) had plenty of opportunities to see its district opponents last season.

Every season the Gering Bulldogs seek to win a district championship and qualify for the Nebraska state tournament.
As for the Western Conference Tournament, well, they’re always pretty determined to win that one, too.

SIDNEY — The Alliance High School volleyball team put up a valiant effort against Ogallala before falling in the semifinals of the Class B, District 6 Volleyball Tournament Thursday night in Sidney.
Although the Bulldogs were swept by scores of 25-19, 25-17, 25-23, Alliance gave the top-seeded Indians all they could handle in the third set. The Bulldogs actually led by as many as four points late in the set before Ogallala rallied to close out the match.
